We loved having our Partner Solutions Intern, Ashna Goel, on board this summer! Studying accounting at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), Ashna had no logistics or supply chain experience prior to her internship, but she wrapped her summer as a pro! If you're a student seeking to learn and grow in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment, check out our internship opportunity on Handshake!

It's always a fun time supporting Nashville Transportation Club and their mission! The gang made it out to Top Golf to catch up with industry folks while benefitting supply chain scholarships throughout Middle Tennessee. Proud to be a partner!

To wrap up the 4 takeaways from the last 2.5 year freight recession is “Responsible Growth.” One common misconception is that responsible growth translates into slow/conservative growth but that couldn’t be further from the truth. What it DOES mean is understanding the importance of cash flow all while not sacrificing your people's development, company culture, or core competencies. As a founder-funded brokerage with lofty and aspirational growth goals from day 1, this has always been a balancing act for us. Thankfully, we’ve learned a lesson or two in the past from being too far on one side or the other. Whether you’re bootstrapped or flush with outside investor cash, deviating from responsible growth in favor of top line revenue at all cost is dangerous regardless of your funding or the state of the freight market. You lose focus on your niche in pursuit of unfamiliar verticals while risking your company culture due to a lack of direction and inconsistencies in your core values and company mission. In the last 4.5 years, we've proven at SiLo that you can still achieve sustainable growth YoY during the good times without sacrificing steady growth during down times and we have no plans of deviating from that playbook anytime soon. What does responsible growth mean for your organization?

Matt Jones is attending the 9th Annual Cargo Theft and Transportation Summit this week, hosted by Travelers and CargoNet! As the Vice President of Compliance and Risk Management at SiLo, he specializes in utilizing technology to combat threats while remembering that trucking is still a people business. Jones will speak as a panelist in the session titled "Tech Shields: Defending the Supply Chain Against Theft & Fraud," alongside Eric Libby, Colton Sadler, and Ron Devitt. The panel will focus on strategies for mitigating risk in the industry through tech integrations. A big thank you to Travelers and CargoNet for hosting this event!

As we head to campuses this fall, it's only right we continue to shoutout our interns who joined us this summer! Ella Connor joined the team from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) and had a great summer with us in Nashville working alongside John Jonas' team! We enjoyed our time so much with Ella that one summer wasn't enough--she will be joining the SiLo team full-time following her graduation in May! Thankful for all you contributed this summer, Ella, and we're looking forward to having you back! If you're a student looking for an internship check out our available roles: https://lnkd.in/eq26q3t6
