Earlier this week, we had the privilege of hosting 110 Oregon State University civil engineering students at our Willow Lake WPCF Hydraulic Improvements jobsite. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to get a firsthand look at the work we're doing and learn about real-world applications of construction and engineering. This summer, I had the privilege of working at Slayden Constructors Inc. as a Project Engineering Intern. This experience has contributed significantly to my professional growth and has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the water/wastewater construction industry. During my 10 weeks with the company, I had the opportunity to work on the Tualatin Valley Water District Pump Station and Pipeline where I was able to learn the skills and processes necessary to successfully complete a project. I want to thank everyone in the Slayden family for everything they’ve taught me, especially Tu-Uyen Phan, Keith Beckman, and Brian Schomus for their constant guidance and support. I also want to thank the whole crew at TVWD for welcoming me into the team and Angie Schornstein and Rob Bechtloff for a smooth recruitment and onboarding process. Additionally, thank you to my fellow interns; I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you all this summer!
