The World Health Organization released a report earlier this year where it was revealed that a shocking 66% of nursing home staff admitted to committing some form of elder abuse ❗ Ultimately, everyone has a role to play in protecting older people from abuse, though it is essential for nursing homes and their staff to be aware of the proper protocols in place to prevent and address elder abuse. Staff training, regular monitoring, and reporting mechanisms are crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of elderly residents. Raising awareness on what actually constitutes abuse in these facilities would go a long way in improving the treatment these residents face.
