SmithGroup is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Kaiser Permanente Railyards Medical Center in the heart of downtown Sacramento, alongside our partners at HENSEL PHELPS. This state-of-the-art facility will be a beacon of health and wellness and represents one of the healthcare provider’s first two all-electric hospitals. The Kaiser Permanente Railyards Medical Center will be situated on an 18-acre site offering 310 beds, with a 48-bed intensive care unit, a 38-bed birthing center and an 8-bed intensive care unit, 14 operating rooms and 70 emergency room treatment bays. We are extremely proud to share SmithGroup has earned a national Honor Award for exemplary engineering achievement from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for Glass City Metropark in Toledo, Ohio. Our multidisciplinary team designed the rebirth of an industrial brownfield into a premier riverfront park, creating extensive new riverine habitat and bringing a wide variety of recreational amenities and programs to a historically underserved area of the city. Recognition of all award winners will take place in May at the ACEC’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala in Washington, D.C.
