Driven by a deep commitment to her community, in 2018 Sherri led the establishment of The SoLa Foundation, SoLa's non-profit affiliate, to ensure that all youth in South LA have access to opportunities for a successful future. SoLa Impact and The SoLa Foundation are tackling some of Los Angeles' most pressing issues: homelessness and the housing crisis. We have spoken of it often, but yesterday we got to witness it firsthand. Joined by Live Nation Entertainment CEO Michael Rapino and Jolene Rapino, and Ali Harnell of Live Nation Women, we “performed” the groundbreaking of The SoLa Technology & Entertainment Center Powered by Live Nation Entertainment. It was simply put – incredible! Housed on the ground floor of SoLa’s defining “Crenshaw Lofts” project, the new Tech Center will be seen by millions of Angelenos, visitors, and tourists commuting by the Los Angeles Metro Green line. More importantly, it will serve thousands of young people in the community. This project would not have been possible without the support of LA City Council President Pro Tempore Marqueece Harris-Dawson (CD8) and President of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Board Cynthia McClain-Hill. They moved mountains and catalyzed Project Powerhouse, which ensured equitable and critical infrastructure upgrades in the Crenshaw district. Next year, we will have the opening of the state-of-the-art community learning center on the ground floor of Crenshaw Lofts. In partnership with the #SolaFoundation and aligned with #DestinationCrenshaw, led by Jason Foster, we continue to create economic and educational opportunities, especially in the tech and creative sectors. Special thanks to Christopher Montes, Roger Arenswald, and Keaton Merrell of Walker & Dunlop and Jesse Levin of The Standard as our debt and equity partners at Crenshaw Lofts, a 195-unit mixed-use project coming in late 2024. SoLa Impact is honored to receive the Community Impact Award at the Los Angeles Business Council Award Ceremony. It has particular meaning to be recognized jointly by LA’s new Chief of Housing and Homelessness, Lourdes Castro Ramirez (pictured) as well as Amazon. This accolade recognizes the work SoLa Impact has done in South LA and particularly, its Beehive campus, which has become a catalyst for community engagement and economic development. Esports and esports management is a multi-billion business within the $56 billion dollar video game industry, and one of the fastest growing, most dynamic sectors in tech and entertainment. Partners such as Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Riot Games understand the importance of ensuring the participation of Black and brown young people to not only be e-sport athletes but also leaders and innovators of industry and role models for future generations. Our recent event in collaboration with the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) at The SoLa Tech and Entrepreneurship Center, powered by Riot Games was an exhilarating 1:1 FIFA face-off featuring Kellyn Acosta and Erik Duenas! Kudos to the SoLa Tech All-stars who played a pivotal role in the production, gaining firsthand experience in setting up a live esports event and interacting with the players. SoLa Impact is thrilled to announce that we’ve received our eighth Certificate of Occupancy of 2023, for our latest building on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, located near Exposition Park and the University of Southern California. Thanks to our partnerships with HACLA, PATH , Los Angeles County Development Authority, HOPICS, and Volunteers of America Los Angeles, this 29-unit building was fully leased at TCO and occupied shortly thereafter.  It's now home to many individuals and families who formerly were experiencing homelessness. At SoLa Impact, we remain steadfast in our mission to combat the crisis of homelessness. This problem can be solved! Or at least significantly mitigated. But we must increase the supply of housing and we must dramatically reduce the COST and TIME of bringing units online. Despite high-interest rates, despite increases in construction costs, despite the many painful setbacks and headaches, we continue to excitedly move forward with over 30 new construction projects. We are pleased to be working closely with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety to ensure every construction project is carried out efficiently, cost-effectively, and reduces LA’s carbon footprint. As we forge ahead, our commitment to affordable housing and to Los Angeles only deepens. #SouthLA #Affordablehousing #SocialImpact

The Los Angeles Fire Department is comprised of remarkable men and women who tirelessly and selflessly serve our communities every day.  Therefore, we were pleased to receive a “plaque of appreciation” from Firehouse 33, recognizing the partnership between SoLa Impact and the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Over the years, we have worked closely with the LAFD to ensure not only our buildings are kept safe – identifying corrections before they happen, but have also offered our “to be demo-ed” buildings for the LAFD to train and use for their required exercises. Today, the plaque holds a special place in our office, serving as a constant reminder of our shared values and our mutual dedication to the safety and well-being of our community. #SoLaImpact #LAFD #SouthLA #LosAngelesFireDepartment
