#ICYMI: Last week, to continue strengthening domestic #solar manufacturing, the Administration announced it would extend the 48D advanced manufacturing investment credit to solar ingot and wafer producers. "The Biden-Harris Administration's efforts will drive significant investment in domestic solar ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity, currently dominated by China, help meet our economic and national security goals, and support thousands of good-paying jobs across the country," said Michael Carr, Executive Director of #SEMA. Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service released the section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit final rules. Mike Carr, Executive Director of the SEMA Coalition released the below statement following the announcement: “We appreciate the approach and consideration by the Department of Treasury, with advice from the Department of Energy, to finalize the rules for the 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit. “The 45X credit is the foundation for reshoring the solar supply chain and has already changed the face of the U.S. solar manufacturing industry. Issuing this final rule takes a critical step forward in providing certainty for investments to build new and restart mothballed solar factories. “We recognize the effort that went into this rulemaking and look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership with the Biden-Harris Administration on ensuring every available tool, such as the Inflation Reduction Act’s domestic content provisions, are brought to bear to successfully reshore the full solar supply chain.” Read the full statement: https://lnkd.in/e6GN7rbi

Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service released the final section 48D Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit (CHIPS ITC) rules. The CHIPS ITC provides a 25 percent investment tax credit for domestic production of semiconductors and semiconductor equipment manufacturing. Michael Carr, Executive Director of the SEMA Coalition, released the below statement following the announcement: “The final 48D rules will help solar manufacturers unlock the full potential of the CHIPS and Science Act by providing critical support for efforts to reshore the entire solar supply chain. We applaud Treasury’s final CHIPS ITC rules, which clarify that domestic solar ingot and wafer manufacturers can access this landmark incentive. The Biden-Harris Administration's efforts will drive significant investment in domestic solar ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity, currently dominated by China, help meet our economic and national security goals, and support thousands of good-paying jobs across the country. “We appreciate the efforts that went into this significant rulemaking and look forward to continuing our work with the Biden-Harris Administration on leveraging other tools, such as the Inflation Reduction Act’s domestic content provisions, to support the reshoring of the full solar supply chain.” Read the full release: https://lnkd.in/dn7rzxht

We’ve got big news! 🎉 Today the U.S. Department of Commerce announced $325 million in proposed CHIPS funding for HSC. The funding allows us to consider investing in additional semi-grade polysilicon production capacity and capabilities for the first time in more than two decades. We are grateful to our dedicated champions who tirelessly advocated for us and understand how vital HSC is to Michigan and the Great Lakes Bay Region, including Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Debbie Stabenow, Senator Gary Peters and Congressman Dan Kildee. Thank you for believing in our vision. Why is this funding such a big deal? 🤖 It positions HSC to continue serving as a top polysilicon supplier to the leading-edge semiconductor market that powers AI applications. ⚓ Commerce’s support helps ensure that the foundation of the semiconductor industry supply chain remains anchored here in the United States. 🛡️ It demonstrates U.S. government recognition of the essential role HSC’s semi-grade polysilicon plays in national security. ⚙️ Our proposed project is estimated to create nearly 180 manufacturing jobs and over a thousand construction jobs over the duration of potential construction. Join us in celebrating this exciting milestone!
