Decarbonizing the physical world.

About us

At Solugen, we believe planet-scale change starts with the chemistry we use every day. We’re revolutionizing how things are made with the world’s first carbon negative molecule factory: the Bioforge. Harnessing the power of evolved enzymes, plant-based feedstocks, and clean, catalytic reactions, we are making the materials we need to sustain life on Earth—faster, cheaper, and without emissions or waste.

During our visit to D.C., Solugen leadership had the honor of participating in a Congressional staff briefing on “Securing the Future of the U.S. Energetics Supply Chain” at the Rayburn House House Office Building. The discussion centered on the pressing challenges and necessary actions to enhance the domestic production of critical energetic materials. It emphasized the strategic need to reduce reliance on foreign precursors, particularly from China, to safeguard national security and ensure a resilient supply chain for munition systems and rocket propulsion. A special thanks to the Energetics Technology Center (ETC) for their collaboration in this important discussion. Together, we are driving forward innovative solutions and policy developments to secure our nation's defense capabilities.

This week, our team traveled to Washington, D.C., to engage with key government stakeholders about the crucial need to enhance national security through sustainable innovation in the chemical industry, particularly within the energetics supply chain. We had insightful discussions on how the U.S. can strengthen our domestic capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign sources for critical materials. A special thanks to Rep. Brad Finstad and Senator John Boozman for their valuable perspectives and support.

We are thrilled to take our partnership with San Jacinto College to the next level through a new customized biotech training program! This collaboration aims to address the evolving workforce needs in Houston's growing industrial biomanufacturing sector. Members of our Bioprocess Development and Strain Engineering teams recently participated in the inaugural cohort, which covered a range of critical topics from contamination control to pilot plant operations. Solugen has been actively involved in shaping the training curriculum, with our VP of Manufacturing Science and Technology, Dr. Konrad Miller PhD PE, serving as a faculty advisor. Together with San Jac, we are ensuring that the training is not only comprehensive but also aligned with industry best practices. Read more about the program: https://bit.ly/3LCJV0C

This week, Solugen had the honor of participating in a series of roundtable discussions at the White House. The event celebrated the achievements of President Biden's Executive Order on Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation and highlighted Solugen’s recent conditional loan guarantee from the DOE as the single largest U.S. government investment in bioindustrial manufacturing since the Order was signed. Our CTO, Sean Hunt, emphasized the importance of eliminating regulatory bottlenecks and increasing financial support beyond R&D to close gaps in the U.S. biomanufacturing ecosystem. We also had the opportunity to announce a new federal award from the American Center for Manufacturing & Innovation and Leidos through the Department of Defense’s Office of Industrial Base Policy to validate our novel, low-carbon manufacturing platform for benzylamine production. At Solugen, we are proud to be at the forefront of building a sustainable, domestic bioeconomy. Thank you to the DOE, our strategic partners Sasol Chemicals and ADM, and the White House for this incredible honor and opportunity.

💧📈💰 A produced water treater was able to increase throughput by 30% in a recent field trial using Verza360. They were facing a challenge: the incoming water variability and solids content were affecting water quality and throughput. After adding Verza360, they saw a boost in flocculation performance and improved overall water clarity and quality with fewer settled solids. Using Verza360 as a drop-in with existing chemistries (like hydrogen peroxide, iron chloride, and polyacrylamide) enabled a more steady-state operation with increased capacity to treat and profit from more incoming water. Check out our latest blog, featuring the overall impact of using Verza360 in this trial below 👇. https://bit.ly/3VxWxKL #oilandgas #producedwaterrecycling
