Today, we’re highlighting #SonyPics partner STEM Advantage, an organization that prepares and inspires women and underserved communities to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math via mentorships, scholarships, internships, and professional development workshops. Through our mentoring initiative, Passing the Torch, and early careers Emerging Talent Programs, students can learn and grow within the entertainment industry. #SonyPicsEmployee, Emily Villalba (Associate Software Engineer), an alum of this program, was recently honored as the Los Angeles Business Journal’s NextGen Woman of the Year. This award recognizes women from graduate students to young rising star business professionals. Congratulations to Emily and to all program graduates! This #PrideMonth2024, we’re celebrating the amazing work our OUT Employee Business Resource Groups do year-round, and worldwide, for #SonyPics and our communities. The Culver City and EMEA boards are dedicated to furthering LGBTQ+ inclusion, visibility, and representation. In addition to raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and culture, they act as a conduit for career growth, mentorship, and creating safe, inclusive spaces across #SonyPics.

#SonyPics is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of the 28th American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in collaboration with NICE CROWD. The annual festival empowers Black artists and spotlights diverse content created by and for individuals of African descent. This year, a retrospective celebrating the legacy of Academy Award-winning actor and director Denzel Washington included a screening of our label TriStar Pictures’ Devil in a Blue Dress, with intro remarks from Ellene Miles (SVP, Global Intersectional Marketing, Sony Pictures).

#SonyPics’ Employee Business Resource Group Wellbeing, Awareness, Vision, and Equality (WAVE) APAC hosted a volunteer event (a first for our Singapore office!) in partnership with Project Dignity, an organization providing work training for differently-abled adults. Members of this organization, in turn, taught our volunteers how to prepare and distribute meals for the community.
