I want to congratulate our clinical and business partners, along with our Digital Health Services team for their ongoing dedication to innovation and adaptability in healthcare technology.” Southcoast Health’s Data Management and Analytics program also received a singular distinction and highest industry award this year, indicating it met the highest industry standards for managing and producing highly accurate data for the organization. This achievement extends beyond information technology, symbolizing a collective organizational commitment to enhancing healthcare through advanced digital health strategies.

October is Ultrasound Awareness Month and we’re happy to recognize our talented team of sonographers! Sonographers use ultrasound to view anatomical structures and organs in ‘real-time' using sound waves to create the images they see. Everyday our amazing sonographers go above and beyond for our patients, including the littlest babies to be. Did you know ultrasound has a whole family tree? A couple of branches are echocardiogram which allows sonographers to create detailed images of the heart, and vascular sonography which allows sonographers to look at the body’s intricate network of blood vessels. This October please join us in celebrating the versatility and importance of ultrasound technology and the skilled Southcoast sonographers who operate it!

Recently, Chris LeBlanc, Executive Director Facility Health Services at Southcoast Health attended the Roosevelt Strategic Council 2024 Smart Data for Energy Summit in Washington, D.C. At this event, Chris had the opportunity to speak on a panel titled “Healthcare Systems and Higher Education Universities: What is the functional value we want to achieve through digital technology in support of our energy optimization goals?” During the discussion, Chris shared valuable insights about how Southcoast Health uses energy data to make energy-saving and air-quality decisions. He explained how our facilities team uses the energy data to address challenges such as maintaining precise control over temperatures and humidity levels, particularly in sensitive areas like surgery equipment storage. These controls are vital for preserving the condition of medical devices and equipment. “The data not only helps us address problems faster,” said Chris. “But it also provides insight into our performance, so we know where improvements are needed and where we need to focus on improving our systems and building infrastructure to provide a better healing environment for our patients.” Areas of discussion also touched upon systems’ end goals for energy efficiency such as lowering costs by improving energy efficiency. We thank Chris for his participation and representing the work of our wonderful teams at Southcoast Health!
