Since 1867, the Southern Education Foundation (SEF) has worked for greater equity and excellence in education in the South, especially for students of color and students from low-income families. A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, SEF provides research and data, policy and advocacy, leadership development programs, and direct services for schools. Our focus: Ensuring that all students have an education that propels them toward the opportunity-rich lives they deserve.

  • 2024 has the most education-related ballot measures since 2018. States, advocates, and researchers have been pushing for and opposing private school voucher programs across the regions. Share these important facts, check out highlights below and subscribe to #thebottomline at https://lnkd.in/ePc6g9F. * Alabama published new proposed rules to administer its new school voucher program. * A new analysis in Kentucky shows that public school teachers are paid less in states that have already implemented school voucher programs. * Louisiana is set to spend nearly $1 million for a third-party provider to manage its new school voucher program. * South Carolina’s governor asked the state Supreme Court to rehear arguments after the court found that using state funds for private schools is unconstitutional. * Governors in Tennessee and Texas are doubling down on their push to expand or develop school vouchers in their respective states.

    We are thrilled about the launch of The Center for Outcomes Based Contracting at SEF, announced during their third annual Fall Convening and inaugural Provider Summit. The Center marks a transformative moment in the mission to advance student achievement through outcomes based contracting. Evolving from a strategic initiative to the leading authority in the successful implementation of the OBC model, the Center will set industry standards, provide comprehensive resources, and drive systemic change in education.
