Women Inspiring at South Shore Health (WISSH) is proud to sponsor “Back to Work, Together,” a group for South Shore Health colleagues transitioning back to work after having a child. The group will meet at 10 AM in South Shore Hospital’s OB A Classroom for four consecutive Tuesdays, beginning September 3. ➡️➡️ This group is open to South Shore Health colleague moms up to one year postpartum who have returned to work after maternity leave or will be returning to work in the coming months. ⬅️⬅️ “Back to Work, Together” is a supportive space to share experiences, develop new friendships, and discuss the unique challenges and emotions that come with transitioning back to work. Our facilitators for this group are registered nurses who have years of experience caring for women and families. Babies are welcome too! We encourage you to share this post with any South Shore Health colleagues who may currently be out on leave. Earlier this month, twins Patrick and Clara of Rockland held a lemonade stand to raise money for South Shore Hospital's Messina Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Andrade Family Special Care Nursery (SCN). Thanks to their hard work, delicious lemonade, and the support of their friends, neighbors, and community, Patrick and Clara’s lemonade stand raised a remarkable $2,000! On Tuesday, we welcomed Patrick, Clara, their mom and dad, Jenna and Mike, and their baby brother Casey to the Hospital, where members of our NICU and SCN Teams gratefully received their donation and thanked them for their kindness. We’re moved by Patrick, Clara, and their family’s generosity – their donation will go a long way toward supporting babies and families in need. Thank you, Mullen Family! Easy 99.1 WPLM recently held its second annual Easy Summer Classic golf tournament at Waverly Oaks in Plymouth. The tournament raised funds for our Emergency Department and featured opening remarks from William Tollefsen, MD, Chair of Emergency Medicine. It was a great day on the course, and we’re both excited and grateful to report that the tournament raised $7,500 for the ED! We’re grateful to the team at WPLM for their generosity and to all of the golfers and volunteers who made this wonderful event possible. Lisa Gould, MD, PhD recently received the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wound Healing Society! Dr. Gould, Director of Hyperbaric Medical Services at the South Shore Health Center for Wound Healing, has dedicated her career to solving complex wound healing problems, providing relief to countless patients in the process. She is a leader in her field of wound care and wound healing: she has conducted a variety of research studies and has more than 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts to her name. We're thrilled to report that the Bridge Program and Perinatal Behavioral Health Program, both part of the Grayken Center for Treatment at South Shore Health, recently received $5,000 Community Impact Committee grants from Spectrum Health Systems! Spectrum Health Systems, a provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services across New England, recently launched the Community Impact Committee to recognize and support community-based organizations that provide services to the population that Spectrum itself serves. Locally, Spectrum offers clinical support services and residential treatment for adult men and an outpatient treatment program in Weymouth. Congratulations to phlebotomist Anita Uhlman of South Shore Medical Center, the most recent recipient of our Colleague Spotlight Award! Anita is known as a colleague who truly embodies our Pillars of Excellence, including empathy and respect. Recently, she provided outstanding care to two young siblings, each of whom had sensory challenges. Anita's compassion led to a heartfelt "thank you" from the children's mother and grandmother.
