Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) invites current registered nurses, nursing graduate students and soon-to-be graduates to explore career opportunities at a monthly open house. Starting on Oct. 18, and continuing the third Friday of each month, nursing leaders welcome RNs and students to tour SVMC’s units, to ask questions and learn about career and continuing education opportunities. Across the country, the third week of September is National Rehabilitation Awareness Week. This week, we reflect on the remarkable patient outcomes achieved through the power of our committed rehabilitation professionals. SVMC’s rehabilitation team consists of 40 therapists located at the hospital as well as our medical practices, including Northshire, Deerfield Valley, Twin Rivers, and SVMC Orthopedics. Some, but not all of those wonderful professionals are pictured. SVMC’s practitioners provide a range of specialized therapies that play a critical role in promoting independence, enhancing quality of life, and restoring overall well-being. Richard J. Powell, MD, Director of the Dartmouth Health Heart and Vascular Center gave a fascinating presentation to our Equinox Circle members last week in Manchester, VT, explaining the innovative surgical techniques and technologies available to patients in northern New England. Dr. Powell also joined SVMC's Scott W. Rogge, Director of Cardiology and James F. Keenan, MD, PhD, Chair of SVMC's Department of Radiology, in a panel discussion facilitated by our Chief Medical Officer Trey Dobson, MD. They discussed the exciting ways that cardiovascular diagnostics and surgical options will be expanding at SVMC in the near future, thanks to investment in new technology and our integration with Dartmouth Health.
