On Monday, October 21, we hosted the plenary meeting of the new Executive Committee (2024-2026) of the Florida Chapter of Club Español e Iberoamericano del Arbitraje (CEIA) at our headquarters. Our Executive Director, Juan Carlos Pereira, welcomed the Chapter by highlighting that, like the CEIA, the Spain-US Chamber also advocates for the development of arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution methods, particularly in the U.S., where litigation in courts tends to be very costly. He also reminded the members about the Chamber's activities and the upcoming celebration of the Ponce de León Awards Gala on November 21. The CEIA, with over 1,500 individual members, all specialized in arbitration, is the leading association dedicated to promoting arbitration as a method of conflict resolution, as well as developing arbitration in Spanish, Portuguese, or with an Ibero-American component. The new leadership of the Florida Chapter will be chaired for the next two years by Javier Fernandez-Samaniego, director of the Miami office of Osborne Clarke - USA, a partner firm of the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce. The Honorary President will be Ricardo H. Puente from Jones Day, who has chaired the Chapter for the past decade. Vice Presidents include Daniel Vielleville from Assouline & Berlowe, P.A. and Juliana de Valdenebro G. from Hogan Lovells. The committee members (vocals) are Katharine Menendez de la Cuesta from Holland & Knight LLP, Gilberto A Guerrero-Rocca from Reed Smith LLP and Florida International University, Ana Lombardía from International Centre for Dispute Resolution® (ICDR), and Diego Brian Gosis from GST LLP.
