What a journey this first year has been as Founder and CEO of Spark the Firm. I can honestly say it’s been a WILD ride. I've experienced every emotion on the feelings wheel – from joy and excitement to fear and trepidation. Looking back, I realize how blessed I am. Blessed with a growing team that believes in our mission, clients who trust us, and the opportunity to build something meaningful. I feel fulfilled seeing the progress made and the positive impact we’ve had. But most importantly, I’m in awe of the personal growth I've experienced as I became the architect of my dreams. It hasn't been easy, but every challenge has been a lesson, every setback a stepping stone. I’m so full of wonder for what’s ahead. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. We're only 2 days away from our first birthday milestone and Juneteenth! Here are my final reflections on my first year in business with Spark: 10) Networking is vital. Building relationships with other businesses and professionals has opened doors to opportunities I never imagined. Keeping a network of supportive peers can offer advice, collaborations, and potential client leads. 🤝 11) Failures are stepping stones. Every setback has been a learning experience. They’ve taught me more than my successes, providing invaluable insights and pushing me to continually improve. Embracing failure as part of the journey has made me more resilient and has given me the correct framing for setbacks. 12) Celebrate milestones, big or small. Recognizing and celebrating achievements, no matter how minor motivates me to keep pushing forward. Movement is progress. 🎉 Reflecting on these lessons, I realize how much my first year in business has transformed me. Can't believe we're only 5 days away from Spark's 1st Birthday! 🎂 Continuing on with reflections #7-#9 from my first year with my firm: 7) Do what you can and as much as you can and when you can, get help! When first starting out you are doing it all. But as you grow, you have to scale appropriately to meet new client demands. That means you can’t do it all. So build a team as you can and surround yourself with people you can trust who get your vision. 8) Have fun! I work too hard and too many hours to not enjoy it. So I try to incorporate something that gives me joy into each day, no matter how small. It may be listening to my favorite playlist while reviewing my quarterly project plan. 9) Think about your business’s growth and sustainability EVERY DAY.
