Thanks to everyone who came out to the car wash and bottle and can drive our Special Olympics Central Shoreline team held at Palumbo's Automotive Unlimited over the weekend! The athletes, Unified partners and coaches had a blast collecting recyclables and making the cars and trucks that came through sparkle and shine. At the end of the day, the event raised close to $700! Members of the Special Olympics Central Shoreline team are currently participating in weekly golf and softball practices to prepare for our Unified Sports® Fall Festival. It's events like the car wash and great people like friends at Palumbo's who make good times, togetherness and achievements in sports possible for our athletes! #thankfulthursday #soct #choosetoinclude

SOCT's Katie Dennett and Global Messenger Raishaun Holloway visited Mylyn Smith, Esq. of the Greater Hartford Chapter of Jack and Jill to thank her for the organization's generosity as a Supporting Sponsor of our Summer Games. The Greater Hartford Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. was founded by a group of mothers who wanted to expand the social, cultural and extracurricular opportunities for their children in the greater Hartford community and beyond. The organization's teen group hosted a popcorn fundraiser this year that raised $2,000 for SOCT. #ThankfulThursday #soct #soctgames #choosetoinclude

We congratulate Special Olympics Unified Sports® superstar coach Stephanie Bregman on being recognized as Region 15 Schools' Teacher of the Year! "Ms. Bregman started the high school’s participation in Special Olympics Unified Sports 8 years ago. PHS (Pomperaug High School) Unified has now grown to become a comprehensive program that goes beyond just 3 seasons of sports... Her gentle guidance is seen in the classroom and on the field, court or track during Unified Sports. She inspires all Pomperaug students to work with and care about everyone, and to treat people with respect no matter their background or ability." Thank you, Stephanie, for your dedication and amazing efforts to create a kinder and more inclusive world for us all! Thank you to DMHAS police officers and Jersey Mike's Subs of Middletown for teaming up to host a "Spirit Night" earlier this week that featured fundraising for our athletes, a prize giveaway and special guests Hector Sanchez and Raishaun Holloway, two of our Global Messengers who helped out by greeting everyone who came out to the event! No worries if you missed it. You can still support Special Olympics Connecticut by stopping by Jersey Mike's of Middletown any day this week for lunch or dinner. Be sure to use the coupons below when ordering - and enjoy! Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run #soct #ChooseToInclude #wednesdaymotivation #specialolympics #middletownct

Athletes and Unified Sports® partners from our Quinebaug Valley and Willimantic local programs were thrilled to participate in a clinic with members of the University of Connecticut football team at the Shenkman Football Training Center. The UConn football players led our athletes and partners in warm-up exercises and drills and made time for taking photos and signing autographs too!
