At Spirit, we’re building what moves you. We bring innovative solutions to build at an unparalleled scale and complexity – and it’s the dedication of every person on our team who make it possible. On this U.S. Manufacturing Day, we’re looking at what our U.S. teams have done or do every day to move the world: In Biddeford, our team developed the sample return heatshield for the Osiris-REx mission. It is engineered to protect the sample return capsule from the 4,000°F temperature resulting from the 27,000 mile per hour Earth atmospheric entry. 🛡️🌍 In Dallas, our aftermarket team services all major North American carriers, completing more than 1,500 repairs a year. 🔧🛫 In Kinston, our strategic location and our logistics team allows products to be delivered by land, air, or sea. 🌎✈️🚚🚢 In Tulsa, our agile team has worked on a large variety of programs since the 1940s; featuring a strong background in commercial, defense, and even space – having worked on the Saturn II and Space Shuttle. 🚀🛰️ In Wichita, our logistics team delivers an average of 47,000 parts an hour to our manufacturing team. 📦⏰ In Woonsocket, an “MSR” weaving loom was custom-designed and built to support fabrication of the heat shield for the Earth Entry Vehicle (EEV) on NASA’s Mars Sample Return (MSR) program. The MSR loom set-up includes over 3,000 miles of fiber wound onto over 40,000 individual spools. 🧵 Let's celebrate #ManufacturingDay by recognizing the commitment and innovative spirit of our teams across the country. #Innovation #Manufacturing #Teamwork #USA

We hosted U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran at our Wichita headquarters on Monday. He invited senior Boeing leaders, including President & CEO Kelly Ortberg, and local community leaders to join him on a tour of the factory. The group witnessed the scale and complexity of our operations firsthand and had the opportunity to engage with our talented team on the floor. Thank you to Sen. Moran, whose advocacy on behalf of aerospace business in Kansas and our workforce in Wichita has been invaluable.
