St. James Parish was made aware of the need for these crucial carbon monoxide monitors during a Parish led hurricane awareness event for seniors. LOCAP representatives were in attendance immediately volunteered to donate the needed carbon monoxide alarms to the Parish for distribution to its residents 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬! Carbon monoxide monitors are vital for protecting families from the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, especially during times of emergency. Carbon monoxide is odorless, tasteless, and deadly. “We are incredibly thankful to LOCAP for their immediate response and dedication to our community,” said Parish President Pete Dufresne, “This life-saving donation will help ensure that our residents, especially our seniors, are better protected.” 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 In addition to this generous donation, St. James Parish Government would like to remind residents that free smoke detectors are available through the St. James Parish Volunteer Fire Department. As part of this safe-home initiative, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will provide free smoke detectors and complimentary installation services performed by our dedicated volunteer firefighters. Congratulations to Lutcher Donuts on their successful grand opening! Lutcher Donuts offers coffee, donuts, kolaches, biscuits, and croissants daily from 4:00am-1:00pm. They are located at 1934 W. Main St., Lutcher (the old Aunt Ellie's building). Mayor Patrick St. Pierre shared that this is the first time in 50 years that Lutcher has had a donut shop within town limits.
