Please join us in congratulating one of our recent VIP (Values in Practice) award winners - Amber Tirado. Amber is a case manager working in our health homes program. Her nomination read, "Amber goes above and beyond in her job as a health homes case manager and is one of the most kind and compassionate people I know. Recently, Amber shared a story with me that is an excellent example of "living the mission." She came across a young individual on the sidewalk with four bags who appeared to be homeless. She took the time (outside of her working hours) to ask if this individual needed assistance. The young man shared with her that he was starting a new job the following day but didn’t have any food. Amber provided him with a listening ear, a sandwich, and chips. She advised him of local resources to help him get back on his feet. This is not the first time that Amber has gone out of her way to provide this type of assistance in the community. She is such a valuable member of St. Mary's and is truly deserving of a VIP award." Please join us in welcoming Daniel Borgia NP to St. Mary's Healthcare our new Nurse Practitioner working in Pre-Surgical Services Department Daniel will be working directly with the nursing department and specializing in the Surgical Home Program. Daniel comes to us from Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital where his role was in neuro-rehabilitation. His experience as a nurse practitioner also includes outpatient pain management and primary care. Prior to working as a Nurse Practitioner, he worked as a registered nurse at Berkshire Medical Center in a variety of departments. Daniel is from the Schenectady and is accredited from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and an Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner from SAGE graduate school. Daniel will be doing Pre-Surgical Medical Evaluations in order to optimize patients for surgery. Welcome to the team at St. Mary's Daniel!

Our next free Childbirth & Parenting Preparation class is Tuesday, November 5, from 5pm-8pm! Our comprehensive childbirth preparation class is taught by our experienced labor and delivery nurses to help you prepare for your birthing experience. This class covers the latest evidence-based information to help you prepare for pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period. Some topics include comfort measures for labor, car seat instruction by state police, Q&A with our pediatricians and more. We encourage expectant couples to attend around 28-30 weeks.
