Serenity, a McDonogh student, former Camp St. Vincent counselor, and a dedicated advocate for those impacted by poverty, embodies the spirit of service that honors Black History Month. She founded a club dedicated to supporting St. Vincent’s mission, and in December, packed hygiene kits for individuals in our shelters and delivered them on MLK Day. Serenity’s dedication serves as a reminder of the impact young Black leaders have in shaping a better future for all. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackLeadership #CommunityService

As Baltimore faces freezing temperatures, the warmth of a blanket can feel like a lifeline. A heartfelt thank you to the Black Student Union at Johns Hopkins University for crafting handmade blankets for the clients at Beans & Bread. We are truly grateful for your kindness and for making a meaningful difference during these cold days. 💙

As we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are reminded of his unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and opportunity for all. At St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, we are driven by that same vision as we work to help those facing hunger, homelessness, and poverty reach their full potential. Today, we reflect on the progress made and the work still ahead to create a world where everyone has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. A special thanks in advance to the Baltimore County Volunteer Center (@Alison Vogrin) for volunteering to host an afternoon of playing games and creating crafts with the families at our Hannah More Family Shelter on MLK Day. 💙🤝

As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for your generous support that has made a lasting impact in our community. Because of YOU, individuals and families facing hunger, homelessness, and poverty received the help they need. But as you know, our work is never done. There are so many in our community who need our help, now more than ever. Recently released data shows that nearly 150,000 children experienced homelessness on a single night in 2024, a 33% increase from the year before. Along with that was a nearly 40% rise in family homelessness. At SVDP, we work hard every day to provide shelter, housing, food access, and education to those who need it most. In the past year, we've helped nearly 1,500 people—half of whom were children. And with your help, we can do even more. Your year-end gift will provide life-changing support, and a chance for individuals and families to break free from the cycle of poverty. Amy, a single mother of four, has made remarkable progress with the support of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore’s Home Connections program. "Having a stable home has made an incredible difference in our lives. It has not only given us a safe and comfortable place to live but has allowed me to focus on my personal and professional growth. While being part of this program, I have had a chance to work on my resume, become a medication technician, a certified nursing assistant, and pursue addiction counseling." As for Amy’s children, they now have a warm, safe home, educational opportunities, and even received holiday gifts through our Adopt a Family program. At SVDP, we’re not just providing shelter; we’re empowering families to thrive with case management services, access to nutritious food, and vital programs like head start and summer camp. With just 1 day left in the year, your tax-deductible donation can ensure that families like Amy’s continue to receive the support they need. Your gift will help provide shelter, housing, food, and opportunities for more families in need as they work to rebuild their lives. Will you consider making a year-end donation today to help us reach even more families in 2025? Every donation helps provide families with the tools and resources they need to build a better future.
