STCU is turning 90 on October 10, and we’re celebrating some of our longest tenured employees who have been a vital part of our journey! 🎉 Meet Sheri Deist, who joined STCU on November 6, 1989. Over the past 35 years, Sheri has seen many changes, but one thing has remained constant: STCU's heart for serving members in a meaningful way. What’s kept Sheri with STCU for so long? "I’ve gained lifelong friends who are part of my life tapestry. We've shared joys and sorrows, and these priceless relationships wouldn’t exist without STCU. I’m also motivated by the opportunity to be a servant leader to an AMAZING team and to be part of their growth and success!" Thank you, Sheri, for your incredible dedication and for shaping STCU’s story over the past three decades!

As STCU celebrates 90 years on October 10, we’re highlighting some of our longest tenured employees who have been a vital part of our growth! 🎉 Meet Kris, who began her journey with STCU on February 18, 1987. Back then, the credit union had fewer than 50 employees—Kris’s operator number was 19! She joined just before the North and Valley Branches opened, witnessing firsthand the initial expansion of STCU’s footprint within the community. Over the years, Kris has seen many changes, especially the leap from DOS systems to the modern technology we use today. But one thing has remained the same: the sense of family and care that is central to STCU’s culture. "The biggest difference now is how much more we can give back to our communities as we've grown," she says. For Kris, STCU is more than a workplace—it’s a family. "There are people here that I worked with when I was a Teller at the Main Branch, and now I’m working with their children! I’ve always felt at home with my credit union family." Kris’s lasting impact on STCU and the people she’s worked with will be felt for many years to come. Thank you, Kris, for your dedication and for helping shape our story over the past 36 years! 💜

STCU is turning 90 on October 10, and we’re celebrating some of our longest tenured employees who’ve helped shape our journey! 🎉 Meet Ronda, who joined STCU in 1986. She started out processing overnight work while going to school, and officially went full-time in December of that year. Over the decades, Ronda has seen it all—from the green screen DOS systems and endless paperwork to pioneering STCU's first paperless department in Card Services! But what has stayed the same for Ronda? STCU's heart for the member. "I’ve seen many changes over the years, but STCU’s commitment to the member has remained strong, and I’ve lived that commitment firsthand," she says. When asked what kept her with us for so long, Ronda shared that STCU has become her family, allowing her to live out her passion for working with the teaching community and improving processes within the credit union. Her plan for the future? To reach her 40-year anniversary and then ride off into the sunset! 🌅 Thank you, Ronda, for your incredible dedication and for being such an important part of STCU’s story.💜

This year, STCU is proud to partner with 4 News Now’s Coats 4 Kids campaign to ensure kids stay warm as temperatures drop. For 39 years, this program has helped provide hundreds of thousands of coats to children in need—and we’re excited to join the effort! We’re collecting new or gently used winter coats at all STCU branches to help local families. Think warm, durable jackets, like Ralphie’s from A Christmas Story! Monetary donations are also welcome—STCU members can donate directly through online banking by transferring to Account #2004315368 under "Send money to another STCU member." Let’s make a difference this winter by spreading warmth and care throughout our community. https://bit.ly/46AATdp

We had such a fantastic time at the Building Dreams – Bright Futures for Our Kids event! The Hawaiian theme added an extra layer of fun to an evening dedicated to supporting the West Central Community Center and its essential programs. These initiatives play a critical role in helping local youth and families move from uncertainty to stability, and we’re proud to be part of an event that’s making a lasting impact.

We had an incredible time attending AWB’s annual Policy Summit! This event brought together employers and policy experts from across the state, creating a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow business leaders and dive into the current outlook on issues that matter most to our communities and workplaces. From thought-provoking discussions on statewide policies to inspiring keynote speakers, the summit was a perfect blend of learning and connection.

Meet Greg Templeton, our new VP and Director of Home Lending. Greg leads a team of lenders and dream makers. He knows the importance of deadlines and due diligence, but he also knows that a good real estate team has the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in borrowers’ lives by turning the dream of homeownership into a reality. Greg looks forward daily to working with his colleagues to make good on that mission. An EWU graduate, Greg has been in the mortgage business since 1997, along with a stint as a financial advisor. If he’s not spending time with his wife and four children out on the lake, he’s probably occupied with his mini Australian labradoodle, Moose. Connect with Greg here: https://bit.ly/4eqPKdX

Talking to your family and friends about scams can be difficult. With so many online scams, it can be hard to know how to start the conversation. Scams can fool anyone, but by knowing the warning signs, you can keep you and your loved ones safe from fraudsters. When talking about scams, keep discussions simple and avoid complex jargon for better understanding: Start with empathy: Let them know scams can trick anyone—even tech experts! This helps create a more open and supportive conversation. Use real-life examples: Share common scams, like phishing emails or fake phone calls. For instance, say, “Remember that email pretending to be from our bank? Total scam!” Make it interactive: Role-play different scam scenarios. Practice responding to a suspicious phone call or email to help the lessons stick. Repeat key points: Keep reinforcing the signs of a scam. The more you repeat, the more second nature they become.
