There’s always room at our table.

About us

Stop & Shop has been around for more than 100 years. We started small, as a corner grocery store back in 1914. And we’ve grown…a lot. We have more than 50,000 Associates in 350+ stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, and New Jersey. Through that change, our values have stayed the same. At Stop & Shop, we’ve made a commitment to making our stores better every day for our associates, our customers, and our communities. It’s our secret recipe for success. It guides everything we do from the products that stock our shelves to the way we manage our stores! It helps us put the customer first, do what’s right, win together, and make ideas happen.

Today is a day of remembrance, unity, and resilience as we honor those who lost their lives and the heroes that emerged on September 11. We were honored to partner with Home Base and Project 351 for today’s 9/11 Day of Service in Boston. Our Veterans Associate Resource Group proudly came together to support our heroes by building care packages for those serving overseas, crafting letters of gratitude, and assembling essential supplies for local veterans in need. Additionally, a group of Stop & Shop associates headed to Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA to clean headstones as part of a 9/11 initiative to beautify VA National Cemeteries across the nation to honor and remember those who served our country.

This weekend we celebrated a uniquely Boston-centric tradition: Allston Christmas! For those unfamiliar with the time-honored annual holiday, Allston Christmas is the special time of year when the majority of leases, especially in student-heavy areas like Allston, turn over each year, resulting in belongings left on the curb for anyone to take during the last weekend of August. Over the weekend, we hosted an Allston Christmas party at our Allston Yards store with free food samples, holiday music playing, and a Santa Claus appearance for jolly festivities! Even Marty the Robot got into the spirit, dressing up as Saint Nick! Customers who spent $25 or more in store received limited-edition giant-sized Allston Christmas shopping bags to help haul second-hand treasures acquired over the weekend. The oversized bags featured fun illustrated designs, which paid tribute to this beloved Boston tradition with sidewalks covered in furniture and housewares for the taking – and even a truck that’s been ‘Storrowed.’ Learn more about the weekend festivities on WCVB Channel 5: Shaun Ganley #AllstonChristmas #Boston #AllstonYards

We are committed to taking bold steps to help our associates, customers, and communities work towards better health outcomes, which is why we have stopped selling cigarettes and tobacco products at all of our 360 stores. We encouraged customers to quit smoking by hosting cigarette buyback events at Stop & Shop locations in Boston and New York City, where there are higher rates of smoking and smoking-related health issues. At both events, customers and associates who brought in unopened packs or cartons of cigarettes to trade in received a Stop & Shop gift card, plus a bag filled with healthy snacks, mints, smoking cessation materials created in partnership with our long term partners, the American Cancer Society, and its advocacy affiliate the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), plus $10 off coupons for Nicorette provided by Haleon. We were very pleased with the turnout at both events! The health of our communities is a priority at Stop & Shop, and it was inspiring to see community members, along with our own associates, take meaningful steps towards quitting smoking. One of our associates who participated expressed her desire to be a positive role model for younger Stop & Shop associates. Additionally, several customers turned in cigarettes on behalf of loved ones, motivated by a commitment to help them quit. Many credited the event as a first step in removing tobacco products from their lives.  https://lnkd.in/dYSMzY5q

We're fighting the battle against hunger and building greater access to fresh fruits and vegetables for children on Long Island with a $200,000+ donation to Island Harvest Food Bank. The donation will help support Island Harvest’s Youth Produce Project, which began in 2013 through a longstanding partnership with the Stop & Shop Family Foundation. The program provides low-income children and their families with weekly boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables. This initiative partners with eight Head Start locations across Long Island to ensure these families receive essential nutrition. Beyond food distribution, the project also educates children and their families on the importance of developing and maintaining healthy, well-balanced eating habits, addressing both immediate hunger and long-term wellness. With this donation, the Youth Produce Project can now distribute a variety of fresh produce to at least 490 children per week. This support translates to over 65,000 pounds of healthy produce, supplementing nearly 55,000 meals.
