After analyzing 535,763 demo sessions across 50 companies, here's what we found: ► Gated demos convert 43% of engaged users into leads ► Partially gated demos experience a steep drop-off, with a conversion rate of just 4.99% ► Ungated demos have the lowest conversion rate at 0.30%, as the form comes after the demo If you're weighing the pros and cons of gating your demos, check out our latest report on the Plot - a weekly column where we share data-driven insights and GTM best practices. When do multi-flow demos make sense? After analyzing 8,800 sessions across 40 demo flows, we found: If your product showcase requires more than 12 steps due to its complexity, multi-flow demos are your best bet. Why? 👉 The first flow of a multi-flow demo achieves a 47.79% completion rate, more than double that of single-flow demos (22.63%) 👉 The second flow of a multi-flow demo maintains a 27.34% completion rate, outperforming single-flow demos by 1.2x 👉 Multi-flow demos with 3 flows (totaling 32 steps) still see higher completion rates than single-flow demos with fewer steps Our data shows that breaking down demos into smaller, manageable flows keeps users more engaged—even with more steps! For more insights on single vs multi-flow demos, check out our latest report on the Plot—our weekly column where we share data-driven insights and GTM best practices. Lengthy, technical interactive demos lead to dismal completion rates. Cybersecurity products are no exception. 12% is the average completion rate of cybersecurity product tours, according to the latest Plot report. How can you turn this around? ✅ Keep it short: Limit your demo to 12 steps or fewer to focus only on the most relevant features your audience cares about. ✅ Make it simple: Use clear copy and visual cues to simplify technical features. ✅ Break it up: Split longer product tours into digestible, chaptered flows for better accessibility and completion. For more insights on demo length analysis, check out the full report on Plot—our weekly column where we share data-driven insights and GTM best practices. SumUp's interactive demo achieved a +198% boost in form submission rate 🚀 According to Claire Picard, Product Marketing Manager at SumUp, here's what went down: ▶ Why do you think this demo worked? 👉The interactive demo serves as an excellent showcase for our products, enabling users to explore and interact with our features directly on our website. Our cash register stands out as an intuitive tool, and the demo effectively demonstrates its ease of use. 👉 Users take the time to understand the features and functionalities at their own pace via the interactive demo on SumUp’s POS Pro website pages. ▶ What was the reasoning when creating content for each step? 👉 When developing interactive demos, we have carefully integrated the key features of our product to ensure that they are fully represented in the demo experience. The tool allows us to create seamless flows, guiding users effortlessly from start to finish. 👉 Our primary objective in designing the demo was to provide users with a quick and clear understanding of the core functionality of our cash register, improving their overall understanding of the product. ▶ Were there any specific things you followed when explaining the steps? 👉 It was important for us to write down exactly what users were doing at each stage to make sure they really understood the different features of POS Pro.
