Exciting News from Student Leadership Johns Creek! On 8/19, five of our incredible Secretary of State Ambassadors attended the Johns Creek City Council meeting to express our heartfelt thanks for the city's unwavering support of our program. They also shared some of the amazing work we do to make a positive impact on our community. From collecting donations for the My Journey Matters program, an alternative sentencing initiative led by Superior Court Judge Rachelle Carnesale, to collaborating with One Johns Creek on vital substance abuse education, and working closely with the Johns Creek Veterans Association to update their website and social media—our students emphasized how crucial this program is for empowering the youth of our community. About us
Student Leadership Johns Creek is a program for emerging leaders in their sophomore and junior years. Students apply beginning December 1st of their freshman or sophomore years for the two year program. Applicants are accepted from Centennial, Chattahoochee, Innovation Academy, Johns Creek and Northview High Schools. In 2022 we have also added Mt. Pisgah and Providence Christian Schools. The program is run by an advisory council under the board directorship of Leadership Johns Creek, a 501c3 non-profit in collaboration with Fulton County Schools. In year one of this two year leadership program, leadership skills will be developed through a series of structured learning experiences and then utilized in community service projects within Johns Creek. In the second year, students will have a more individualized focus, implementing the skills learned in year one to find leadership opportunities after high school and college. A class of approximately 45 young adults will be selected from area high schools and will be introduced to a core curriculum of leadership skills including goal setting, project management, team building, governmental process and communication skills. 9 of our student leaders are chosen each year to become members of the Secretary of State Ambassadors Program. These students compete with groups from around the state in voter registration and voter awareness programs.

What an incredible start to our 13th year of Student Leadership Johns Creek! Yesterday, our annual kickoff retreat at Odyssey Escape Games was a blast! All 23 teams successfully escaped their rooms and had a ton of fun doing it. It was wonderful seeing everyone reconnect from last year and meet new friends. Our second-year group has grown so much over the summer, and we can’t wait for our first program day on September 5th. Meeting the first-year students and putting faces to names was such a pleasure. The staff at Odyssey had nothing but praise for our amazing students - what a fantastic compliment to the caliber of our leaders.
