We’re proud to celebrate the creativity and passion of our Senior Project Architect, Melissa Szpik! Melissa’s architectural photography earned three out of the 10 notable entries in this year’s AIA Central Valley Architectura Obscura Photography Competition. With her unique vision, Melissa captured stunning moments that truly showcase the beauty in architecture. This competition was part of the 2024 Experience Architecture Festival. The program is a series of public outreach events that showcase how architects shape our built environment and its impact on daily life, fostering ongoing dialogue to cultivate a unique regional architectural identity while highlighting the connections between the region and its architecture. We have a first look into Phase 1 of the Farallone View Elementary School Modernization Project! Phase 1 of this project consisted of modernizing Building A which houses the administration functions and primary grade classroom wing. Additional upgrades include improvements to the parking and drop-off areas and a new entry feature. Both the interior and exterior of Building A were brought up to modern standards, which includes adaptable and collaborative classroom furnishings and mosaic art along the front entrance. Phase 2 of the project is underway with modernizations being made to Building B, the multipurpose building and the upper grade classroom wing, as well as the central courtyard.

We are pleased to introduce Scott H., Project Designer at our Chico Studio, as September’s Studio W Spotlight team member. Scott was introduced to architecture in college, and since then, has found inspiration in how light, shadow and texture can be used to capture time and invoke an emotion. With a commitment to continuous learning and innovation, Scott constantly seeks new opportunities to expand his knowledge and refine his skills. In his role as Project Designer, he takes on a range of responsibilities, including design computations, architectural drawings and renderings, consulting with manufacturers and evaluating materials. Among his notable projects are the Greenville Rancheria Replacement Clinic, the Walker Elementary School Modernization and Chicken Ranch Rancheria Administration Building. Beyond architecture, Scott draws inspiration from his parents’ determination to work toward a common goal and is an avid fan of all things sci-fi. His first job in the field remains a memorable milestone that significantly shaped his approach to design. Learn more about Scott… https://lnkd.in/g3yYpJki

Studio W Architects is thrilled to provide a construction update on the Kairos Public School Luminary Academy High School! As the second phase of development at Kairos Public School's Vacaville Campus, construction kicked off a few weeks ago. All modular buildings have been positioned and connected, and concrete curbs and gutters are starting to take shape. With all ramps and plumbing connections completed, next up is the asphalt installation and landscaping irrigation. The project is on track for completion later this year and will make this campus a comprehensive TK-12 school.
