About us

The College of Arts & Sciences offers courses in the arts, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences, establishing broad-based learning as the foundation of a Suffolk education. An array of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels provides diverse opportunities to study areas as highly focused as Radiation Science or as interdisciplinary as Environmental Studies. Our curriculum allows students the time to explore minor programs that reflect their personal interests and talents while helping them develop specialized knowledge and skills. Students find many opportunities to combine their academic interests with hands-on experience through internships, service learning, and a broad range of extracurricular activities. Distinguished faculty provide individual attention to their students in small classes while encouraging open, independent thinking and an appreciation of diverse cultures, perspectives, and peoples. In addition to encouraging intellectual development, we prepare our students to meet the challenges of the future and to achieve their personal goals, as they build the foundations of their careers.

Shoutout to today's #sucareerchronicles spotlight, Nicole Mbuse! Nicole is not only a Career Ambassador with our office— she's also making a tangible impact on her community and industry. Nicole recently worked as a Developmental Intern for the Victim Rights Law Center this past summer. When asked about her experience, Nicole shared the following: "My time at the Victim Rights Law Center (V.R.L.C) allowed me to put my skills into research and communication to build relationships with sponsors and donors for this organization to continue supporting victims of SA. It gave me the opportunity to merge my dedication to social justice and my professional pursuits, my time with them was very rewarding!"

  • On Thursday, March 27, join a conversation with with Dr. Andrea C. Love, Ph.D. about scientific literacy, reproductive rights, maternal health, and the dangers of misinformation. Dr. Love will discuss the value of science, and how science communication can empower the fight for reproductive rights by providing clear, evidence-based information that dispels myths, informs policy, and supports public understanding of reproductive health and autonomy. While primarily focused on reproductive rights, this discussion will also examine how science can address social inequities more broadly. Dr. Love is an immunologist and microbiologist with over a decade of experience in basic sciences, translational medicine, and clinical research. Dr. Love is the founder of ImmunoLogic, a science and health education organization and newsletter geared toward addressing misinformation and misconceptions about scientific topics that are relevant to the general public. She has been a guest on numerous news programs, podcasts, and more to promote health literacy and debunk pseudoscience. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Patricia Hogan, Associate Professor Emerita of Environmental Science and Chemistry at Suffolk University. This event is sponsored by the Women’s & Gender Studies Program, Ford Hall Forum, Our Bodies Ourselves, Suffolk University CAS Honors Program, CJN Suffolk University, Suffolk University Biology Department, Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Environment, & Physics (BiCEP), Department of Sociology & Criminal Justice, The Political Science & Legal Studies Department, and Suffolk’s chapter of Planned Parenthood Generation Action (PPGA).

  • Suffolk University's Ford Hall Forum; Theatre Department; CJN Suffolk University; the Newburyport Documentary Film Festival; and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation proudly present the premier of the documentary Mayor of Lowell on Friday, March 21 at 7:00 PM. This event is free and open to the public though registration is required. Get tickets here: https://lnkd.in/eSuDS-zv This short documentary chronicles the culture and arts of Cambodian Americans and the Lowell community through the eyes of Sokhary Chau, the first Cambodian American Mayor in the United States. Chau immigrated to the United States at seven years old to escape the Khmer Rouge genocide. Through this unique story that showcases the best of Lowell—immigrant success, assimilation, history, and the development of the arts—we see a man born into a war-torn country who comes to America to be a first-in-the-nation leader. Following the screening, there will be a conversation with former Mayor Chau and the filmmakers Hunter R Berube, Kayla Dalton, and Kennis Mor. The evening’s moderator is Carla Rojo, reporter, NBC 10 Boston, NECN and Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra. She is a Lowellian and Suffolk University alumna.   This evening of celebration will include special performances by Khmer dancers.
