Building Brighter Futures with All Children and Families. We are hiring!

About us

Established in 1907, Sunbeam is one of Oklahoma’s longest-serving nonprofits. Sunbeam helps over 4,000 Central Oklahoma children and families learn, grow, and thrive each year through early childcare and education, with specialized wraparound support for entire family systems, including mental health services, and programming for foster families and grandparents raising their grandchildren. Through its nationally-recognized early childhood program, Sunbeam prepares babies and toddlers to enter kindergarten through full-day, year-round early care and education. Its traditional (legacy) foster care program provides temporary care and supportive services in a home environment for children. Finally, to provide robust wraparound care, sliding-scale mental health services are available to Sunbeam’s clients and the community. Through the mental health program, Sunbeam provides individual, family, group, and play therapy along with support groups and psycho-educational classes.

🌟 2024 OECP Conference! 🌟 Sunbeam staff attended the Oklahoma Early Childhood Program Annual Summit this week. We connected with other early childhood programs from across the state and brought home new leadership skills to improve our work with children and families. Kathleen Espinoza, our Family Engagement Coordinator, and Sarah England, Senior Director of Grants and Advocacy, also led a Parent Engagement in Action breakout session. 🎤✨ The presentation highlighted innovative strategies to support families and empower parents to step confidently into their roles as leaders within their households and communities. By fostering strong family engagement, we’re not just transforming individual lives; we’re also shaping statewide practices that make a lasting impact on our communities. Why is this important? Because when families are engaged, children thrive! It strengthens their educational journey and builds a foundation for lifelong success. Together, we can ensure that every parent feels equipped and inspired to take the lead in their family’s growth and development. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to these conversations! And to our partners at @CAP Tulsa for coordinating this opportunity! 💪💙

Today is World Mental Health Day! 🌍🧠 Having conversations about mental health is incredibly valuable. With many Oklahomans experiencing various forms of mental illness, it’s crucial to share the facts and provide resources. Let’s support each other and spread awareness. 💚

Did you know? The Oklahoma Department of Human Services awarded a grant to Sunbeam Family Services and Child Care Inc. of Oklahoma to support the pilot implementation of the Early Learning Matters (ELM) Curriculum. Our professional development specialists attended a two-day training at Purdue’s Ben and Maxine Miller Child Development Laboratory School in June 2023. Since then, they trained 565 early childhood providers in Oklahoma. We were thrilled to be part of this initiative to enhance early childhood education in Oklahoma! 📚✨
