About us
For more than a decade, the Sustainable Food Lab has been facilitating market-based solutions to the key issues that are necessary for a healthy and sustainable food system to feed a growing world. We use collaborative learning to build strong alliances that facilitate sustainability along the supply chain from producing to distributing to selling food. Businesses are integrating sustainability into their value chains. Companies, farmers, and civil society are identifying the most important sustainability issues in our food systems and developing credible, verifiable, approaches that make improvements and add value through the supply chain. The Sustainable Food Lab is a global network of organizations working together to realize this vision. From peer to peer leadership networks, to global learning events, to supply chain innovation projects, to measurement tools, the Sustainable Food Lab helps organizations learn and act together to accelerate progress on creating a more sustainable food system.

Practice adoption is only the first piece of the puzzle: ensuring sustainable agriculture sticks and then scales takes continuous up-skilling and an ecosystem of technical assistance for farmers. The Canadian Prairies Trusted Advisor Partnership does just that. Building off the success of the North Dakota TAP, this new initiative, with support from Bimbo Canada, General Mills, PepsiCo, Nature United, Assiniboine College, and South East Research Farm, will provide a practical, science-based curriculum for agronomists and the producers they engage – bringing the best in soil, water, and nutrient management to more acres and farms across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. To tackle inequality in #FoodSystems, businesses must ensure the prosperity of the communities they source from and they can do this by paying farmers a #LivingIncome.
