Founded by Dawn Adams, who experienced firsthand the challenges of growing up with an incarcerated parent, Zion Girls Academy is dedicated to empowering young girls, specifically those aged 14-20 who are often overlooked or aging out of the foster care system. Through their eight Pillars for Progress, Zion Girls Academy provides critical life skills, mentorship, and the tools needed for these young women to build brighter futures. By focusing on education, self-esteem, perseverance, and community involvement, Zion Girls Academy is transforming lives, helping these girls become game changers and contributors to society. Founded in 1987 by Sisters Catherine Connell and Claire Graham, Wellspring has been a safe haven for low-income women and their children in the Oak Park community of Sacramento. What began as a drop-in center offering coffee, donuts, and dignity has grown into a vital space where women’s self-esteem is nurtured and their basic needs are met with compassion. With deep roots in the community, Wellspring Women’s Center continues to nourish hearts and provide a welcoming environment for women to recognize their innate goodness. Housed in the historic Oak Park firehouse, their work has made a lasting impact for decades. Great collaboration between two great organizations from our Fast Pitch Class of 2024. On October 25th, stop by the Meristem Cafe at 9200 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks. All revenue will be donated to Purple Tree Café. Both programs support adults with disabilities and are doing great work to improve lives in our communities!
