    Are you interested in becoming part of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)?  Did you know that you can take the certification exam before you have reached the experience requirements?! Want the inside scoop....? 🍦 Join the Sacramento Valley Section Young and Emerging Planners (YEP) Group on August 28th, to learn what it takes to become an AICP Candidate for the Fall 2024 AICP Certification Cycle. We will be giving you tips/tricks and breaking down the process while at Bike Dog’s new location in East Sacramento from 6-7:30 PM! This Pint Night will be led by Kendra Ramsey, AICP! Kendra is the Executive Director of the California Bicycle Coalition (CalBike), which advocates for equitable, inclusive, and prosperous communities where bicycling helps to enable all Californians to lead healthy and joyful lives. She is the Professional Development Officer for the Sacramento Valley Section of APA, and the President of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals. Kendra is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and holds an MS in Community Development from UC Davis and a BA in Sociology from UC Santa Cruz. Join Sacramento Valley Section of Cal APA for an RPLAN Info Session from 4:00 to 5:00 PM PST via zoom - https://lnkd.in/ei8-ewjA Visit the RPLAN website for more information and relevant links: https://lnkd.in/ehXggH_G Applications are due Friday, August 16th 2024 at 8:00 PM The Sacramento Valley Section of the California American Planning Association (SVS APA) is excited to announce the second year of the Rural Planning Leadership Academy and Network (R-PLAN) program designed for rural planning professionals working for Cities and Counties in rural northern California. SVS APA encompasses the most geographically broad area within the California APA. We recognize the unique experiences and needs of our rural members, as well as the difficulties they experience getting to in-person events typically held in the Sacramento core. The goal of this program is to support the professional development of public sector planners working for rural jurisdictions. The R-PLAN program will run for 10 months beginning in October of 2024 with a group of 10 to 15 participants. This program will be supported by leadership of the Sacramento Valley Section APA Board and facilitated by a volunteer Steering Committee of local APA member planning professionals that include several rural area Agency Directors and staff, as well as members of the SVS APA award winning PLAN mentorship program steering committee. Program Snapshot: Five (5) remote learning & sharing sessions focused around the rural experience. Topics may include:  • General leadership skills and Strengthsfinder • Fire and natural disaster resiliency • Public and tribal engagement • Transportation • Public financing/agency operations • Housing • Legislation • Public Engagement • Connecting with State Agencies and resources
