Henrik Kant, director of urban planning for Gothenburg, intends "to create a city that is dynamic and offers everything within easy access." It’s Election Day in the US! Last week, we co-hosted a lunch with @SACCNYadmin to launch a new initiative: the Executive Insight Series. This first event focused on “The State of the Race: Unpacking the Election with Bipartisan Insights.” Our speakers for the day were @Charles Myers, Chairman and Founder of @Signum Global Advisors, and @Reihan Salam, President of The @Manhattan Institute. Moderating the discussion was @Kristen Kaufman, Trustee at @Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs. A special thanks to our hosts, @Barbara Wennerholm and Erik Ullenhag, for making this inspiring event possible.

It was great to host Ida Hansson Brusewitz of Dagens Industri to discuss the impact of Swedish technology in the US, the upcoming American elections, and the public perception of Sweden here in the States. We have exciting stories to tell, and we thank Ida for connecting us to important Swedish actors who can help us promote Sweden's values in an American context.

In collaboration with @swedennewyork, @sveriges_arkitekter, and The Swedish Institute, a delegation of 19 Swedish architects and urban strategists traveled to Pittsburgh and New York. The goal was to explore and exchange ideas in sustainable urban design and architecture. 🇸🇪🌱🇺🇸 The delegation kicked off their journey in Pittsburgh during the city's Architecture Week. Among other activities, they joined a discussion in the Architecture Matters: Designing for Well-Being at @eicpittsburgh. The event focused on how design influences health and well-being. This event, co-hosted with @aiapgh and The Pittsburgh Platform, brought together people together with the intent of sharing knowledge and on shaping healthier cities. 🧑💻 The trip continued to New York, where the delegation participated in #Archtober, the city’s annual architecture month. On October 9th, the delegation attended a reception at the Swedish Residence with notable speakers including Ambassador Erik Ullenhag and Anna Rudels from the Swedish Institute. Together with experts from Sweden and the US, they discussed " the challenges beyond design" — such as air pollution and social inequities — and how architecture and city planning can drive change for a better future.🗽 On October 10th, the group took in a tour to the Grand Central Development organized by @nycplanning. The tour explored how public spaces are being reimagined, including the Penn Station transit hub and the latest extension of the High Line. Other highlights included a workshop with @nycedc and a site visit to Gowanus Canal Development. 🌱🏙️

We welcomed the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs for a trip to New York. We toured the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation and visited The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce - New York with Business Sweden, met with the Swedish designer behind TARFORM - Mobility of Tomorrow, and discussed the potential impacts of the US election with Emelie Svensson and Emanuel Sidea.
