Yesterday Forbes published its first-ever '50 Over 50 Global list' of trailblazers, and 🇸🇪 engineer Astrid Linder from the Swedish National Road & Transport Research Institute made the list! Linder is recognized for her role in developing the world's first female crash test dummy in 2022. After researching traffic safety and learning that women had higher rates of whiplash and injury in car crashes, Linder realized that one of the reasons was the average height and weight differences between men and women. 🚗 Together with her team at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, she developed a crash test dummy that now helps in the making of seatbelts and airbags that are better suited to protect women. This little red 🇸🇪 Swedish cottage has taken off on a trip to its new home – the moon! 🚀🌕 Earlier today, the Moonhouse – 4.3 inches wide and 3.1 inches tall – took off aboard the Resilience lunar lander, which was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The artist behind the miniature cottage is 🇸🇪 Mikael Genberg, known for placing red cottages in unexpected settings. For 25 years, he’s dreamed of placing a red house with white trim on the surface of the moon. Genberg’s original idea was a cottage large enough to fit an adult standing inside, but to make the project feasible, the Moonhouse had to be scaled down so that it would weigh no more than 100 grams. The unmanned mission is run by Japanese space company ispace, with the soft landing on the moon expected in around four months. Once there, with the help of micro rover Tenacious, the Moonhouse will be put on the surface of the moon. 🔬 Among ispace’s objectives is to collect samples from the surface of the moon, which will be done with a digger from Swedish company Epiroc, mounted on the rover.
