"What do you get when you hook a former Silicon Valley software developer up with a blueberry-loving hundred-year-old and roll up on an East Providence Dunkin’ Donuts looking for free pastries? If you said anything other than a heartwarming, viral sensation that will restore a little bit of your faith in humanity — you guessed wrong." What's @Jack York been up to? Perspective, what a week of perspective. So many Linked in Posts talk about how to build a better team, how to improve efficiency in your work endeavors, how to manage projects, whatever. I get it, most of my life has been driven by that. But hanging out with Kay in Sicily for the last 3 days, a 95 year old delightful resident from Arrow Senior Living Management, has thrown all of those” important” messages out the window. We were honored to take this magnificent woman back to a world she never thought she would see again, the city of Castelvetrano in Sicily. It was where she travelled from Ohio in 1950 (by herself) to meet her pen pal and soon to be husband Benny, and embark on her life’s journey of love, life, motherhood, grandmotherhood, and so much more. All because she had the courage to board that plane. Stay tuned, Tom Brady and Aubrey Rhoden✨ have captured the whole journey to immortalize the story. Check out these pictures, she’s in the church she got married in with a bust behind her of the priest who married her, looking out at the Mediterranean Sea for the last time, smiling in the jewelry store where Benny rode his bike in 1949 and had her engagement ring made. For me it was 72 hours of non-stop reflection, of joy, of being in awe at the miracle of life. So do all of your meeting planning, follow up on all your sales leads, but at the end of the day hug the ones you love - Kay has shown me over the last week that is all that matters. Thanks to  Fran (Kays daughter) for doing the heavy lifting on the trip. Thanks to Arrow, to Shannon Novak, Amanda Tweten and Stephanie Harris, Esq. for creating a culture where its ok to dream and still take risks. Thanks to our friends and partners, (Hamilton CapTel, Eklego Workforce Solutions, LifeLoop and Dash Media) and thanks to so many folks out there who have been friends customers, colleagues. Its because of you I get away with living this insanely joyful life. FYI, Kay is safely back home in Ohio

Don’t we all need some love these days? Meet 95 year old Kay, a resident at Arrow Senior Living Management.  In 1950 this fearless 21 year old  hopped onto a plane, flying to Sicily to meet her pen pal Benedetto . They had written love letters back and forth for almost 2 years (he didn’t speak English so everything had to be translated) They married right away, decades later her kids and grandkids are the legacy of her courage to get on that plane 74 years ago.. Talegate, in our never ending quest to elevate aging and senior living, is driven to bring these stories to life, what better way than to fly Kay back to Sicily (with her daughter Fran) and recreate those breathtaking moments in her life. Love this picture, United Airlines giving Kay some love as she flew yesterday from DC to Rome.   Stay tuned and you’ll learn all about Kay in the next few months, TaleGate’s Tom Brady has the camera rolling and is turning the story into a documentary ….and Aubrey Rhoden✨ is writing a book we’ll be publishing next year telling this inspirational story and several others. We’re all in Sicily this weekend with Kay as she walks us through the journey, what a gift to be reminded that dreams do come true. . The magic of senior living is not amenities, its these people! Thanks to our friends and sponsors for helping us bring these remarkable people to life…. Eklego Workforce Solutions, Hamilton Capital, LifeLoop and Dash Media. and special thanks to Shannon Novak and Amanda Tweten from Arrow for letting us tell your stories, they never gets old. We'll bring her home safe!
