Remember that time you spoke to Andre Sousa Morieira? It was in 2018, wasn’t it? In Marrakech. The sun had finally gone down, and you were holding an icey kumquat gin fizz to your face when Andre appeared on the terrace behind you and you both started talking about advertising and creativity. The ideas, the ideas babe - they were shining like the stars that night. You launched a thousand ventures in your head while you were talking to Andre. Every fascinating topic exploded into another topic like one of those multi-stage fireworks that always comes last on the Fourth of July. The sun came up and then it went down again, you were talking for that long. Or maybe that was the shrooms you two bought off the bus driver after you both decided to road-trip to Chad. One thing is for sure: At some point you were so giddy with mentorship that as you walked a snake charmer, you started dancing with the snake, and Andre clapped. Oh wait, shoot, that never actually happened. Well, I guess the moral of the story is that’s what it would be like to talk to Andre Sousa Moreira. He is one of the finest creative directors in Portugal, though we’re not quite sure if he’s actually in Portugal anymore. How beloved is Talk To A Creative Director's newest recruiter / creative entrepreneurship professor Jennifer Morozowich? Think Bluey, but fully grown and Canadian. And honestly I think that’s an understatement. Bluey never took time out of her schedule to help a lost creative find their way through the concrete canyons of Toronto’s creative scene. Bluey never developed strategy and led accounts at some of the hottest shops north of the 49th parallel. What Bluey does, mostly, is waste her dad’s time. Jennifer Morozowich would never do that. Never. If Jennifer Morozowich was Bluey, she would give her father such incredible career guidance in the first episode that there wouldn’t be a need for any future episodes. There's only one way to describe Talk To A Creative Director's new strategist John Simons: He's more than a dude. He is a prince among dudes. As a strategist at TBWA\Chiat\Day in Los Angeles, well, he's the man for his time and place. He's written copy, designed graphics and driven Lyfts. Now he's rolling briefs. Dudes like John, dudes at the apogee of their dudecraft, aren't hung up on overly linear thinking, which as any strategist will tell you is the key to breakthrough work. He's tireless yet never taxed, a combination that has vexed many scholars and mystics. He's always down to chat, or maybe even go bowling. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. I forgot to make a “happy to celebrate 1 year at Talk to a Creative Director” post so I will make a “happy to celebrate 1 year and 1 month at Talk To A Creative Director.” To say I’ve had a blast is an understatement. I’ve met so many wonderful people from all over the world, had so many interesting conversations, helped a few land jobs and interviews and even played matchmaker and helped birth new creative teams.
