It can be challenging to demonstrate to product and development teams improvements or milestones in security; after all, if security experts are doing their job well, it means other teams won’t have to think about security at all. As part of our roundtable discussion with Reef Dsouza (Amazon Web Services (AWS)) and veteran CISO Dylan Hack, Tamnoon Principal Security Analyst Michael St.Onge breaks down the realities of adopting a vulnerability management program, and the 3 main principles you should consider when evaluating the strength of your cloud security posture: 1️⃣ Anchor a KPI or success metric in the business – does your CSPM model provide value? 2️⃣ Measure success by the happiness of your developers – does your CSPM program provide them with tools and guardrails, enabling them to work smarter, not harder, without jeopardizing security?  3️⃣ Last but certainly not least, does your CSPM program actually safeguard the business? Does it reduce the number of critical alerts? Check out the clip below, and watch the full roundtable for more insights. ⬇ #CloudSecurity #collaboration #management #leadership #CloudInfrastructure #CISO #Security #AWS

💡 “A CSPM program is not a side project. It’s not an afterthought.” CISO Dylan Hack explains why a robust CSPM program can’t be built overnight nor without input and buy-in from high-level stakeholders like CIOs and CFOs. Check out the clip below for his # 1️⃣ tip for starting out your official CSPM program. And for more security leaders’ insights into cloud security, watch the whole roundtable. Interesting take from Loris Degioanni on the rapidly expanding cloud security market. 📈 As the industry evolves beyond just detection and compliance, we're seeing a critical need for comprehensive, end-to-end cloud security solutions that encompass remediation and prevention. As the market grows towards that $100B scale, solutions that can adapt to the increasing sophistication of threats while reducing alert fatigue and optimizing existing security investments will be key. 🚀 At Tamnoon, we're committed to being at the forefront of this evolution, helping organizations not just detect but effectively respond to and prevent cloud security risks. 🛡️ #CloudSecurity #AIinSecurity #Remediation #ThreatPrevention #Tamnoon

    CTO and Founder at Sysdig

When I started building Sysdig, I knew there was a big unmet need in cloud security — but I didn’t realize that need was $23,000,000,000 big… I’m as competitive as the next founder, but I want to take this opportunity to tip my cap to Wiz. It took great courage and conviction to turn down an offer of $23B to continue competing as an independent player. I think they made the right decision. Let me tell you why. The potential Alphabet deal was a clear signal that cloud security is well on its way to being the biggest segment of cybersecurity, on pace to surpass EDR solutions and NextGen Firewalls. For context, led by CrowdStrike, EDR solutions have a roughly combined $100B market cap; NextGen Firewalls, led by Palo Alto Networks, have a $100B market cap segment as well. Cloud security is on track to overtake both. Why? Because cloud security is the next key frontier in cybersecurity. We’re still in the early stages of an incredibly exciting market and it’s healthy to have independent innovators like Wiz and Sysdig challenging the status quo established by legacy solutions. And we are still well within the early days of cloud, which means we’re still in the early days of cloud security adoption. The first phase has focused on security hygiene and compliance, and the second will be concerned with real-time protection against unknown threats and malicious attacks. It is clear we have two cloud-native leaders taking a multi-cloud approach. Sysdig’s key strength and differentiator in cloud security today is real-time cloud detection and response. Wiz is undoubtedly a key player in hygiene and compliance — they hit the check box for the first phase of cloud security —but CISOs know that prevention, inevitably, is not enough. They need real-time protection against unknown threats and malicious attacks, and that's where Sysdig shines. TL;DR: $100B in scale for the cloud security market is not only possible, it’s almost certain.
