Sometimes a team has to come together for some relationship building and good food! It's hard to believe that all our incredible work is done through just 14 people (over half alumni), but that is the strength of Teach For America! DCVA All the Way!

About us
Teach For America (TFA) finds, develops, and supports a diverse network of leaders who expand opportunity for children from classrooms, schools, and every sector and field that shapes the broader systems in which schools operate. We do this with the fundamental belief that in the United States, potential is equally distributed across lines of race and class, but opportunity is not. Teach For America D.C. Region (TFA-DCR) partners with D.C. Public Schools, D.C. Charter Schools, and Alexandria City Public Schools to impact 64,000 students annually over our network of current corps members and alumni.

Honored to have worked with and be supported by CityTutor DC as our newest corps members provided summer tutoring to students during their practicum training. This additional, targeted and personalized instruction makes all the difference!
CityTutor DC supported Teach For America D.C. and Virginia's tutoring efforts this summer. They tutored more than 250 students across three sites in DC. Recently, we observed their summer tutoring work at Meridian PCS. Across every tutoring group, we saw outstanding evidence of strong relationships between students and tutors! After one tutor helped a student convert an improper fraction into a mixed number, the student sat up, smiled, and exclaimed, “I knew I could do it!” Thanks to summer tutoring, students will start the school year with stronger academic foundations and more confidence. #HighlightingHIT #HITinAction #DCHIT #DCHITInitiative

Teach For America D.C. and Virginia reposted this
Bringing holistic wellness, food access, and sustainable community programming to underserved families in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
Join me for a summer special of reduced cost health & wellness coaching sessions! The framework for our coaching is me not as an expert, but more so as a partner for you in supporting your own self- determined wellness goals. We can talk about a range of matters that affect one's wellbeing, including yet beyond the physical and emotional. For example, career, daily habits, hobbies ect...Essentially, anything that you want to work on when it comes to your own sense of feeling holistically well. Encouraged for all but highly encouraged for those who normally would not have access to wellness coaching. Individuals, families and organizations welcomed. Please share widely and many thanks!

We are excited to be working with CityTutor DC to provide critical summer tutoring to students. As our corps members tutor, so too do we learn from these students! High-impact tutoring is an education tool necessary to the future. Thanks to Meridian, Ingenuity Prep, KIPP DC, and Rocketship Public Schools for partnering in this effort.
Teach For America D.C. and Virginia (TFA) is a hub of leaders and opportunities that fuel individual and collective progress toward educational excellence, economic mobility, and expanded opportunity. TFA has dedicated the next ten years to accelerating students, primarily supporting students in Wards 7 and 8 to achieve proficiency in ELA and math with the help of CityTutor DC’s math curriculum. This summer, TFA will provide summer tutoring to students at Meridian Elementary School, Ingenuity Prep Elementary School, KIPP DC, and Rocketship PCS.
