I was recently speaking with a prospect and they were so frustrated with multiple API providers in the 10DLC space that they talked about bypassing the 'middleman' (i.e. API provider) and working directly with a DCA for 10DLC. Here are my thoughts on why this isn’t the solution to solve 10DLC frustrations... Many software providers are curious about moving upstack which is not the right way to think about getting better service. For example, if I turn on my tap and water doesn't come out, I want to call my local water dept/utility services because that's how the system is set up... I'm not going to create my own reservoir to supply water to my house... 🚰 It’s the same concept with going direct to a DCA vs. working with an SMS API provider for your 10DLC SMS, it’s more initial work and ongoing maintenance for you. 1️⃣ Integrating with a DCA is a different technical integration than integrating with a typical SMS API provider, so you’d need to create new ‘plumbing’ 2️⃣ Say you do spend time creating the new set up, you wouldn't get the same level of support because the DCA is not set up to deal with individual software providers, but set up to deal with larger API partners 3️⃣ In addition to your partnership with a DCA you’d also need to set up relationships with the phone number registry which is a separate vendor from DCA - the point being you’d need to work with multiple vendors instead of just one SMS API provider 4️⃣ Once set up, you'd be responsible for managing the other components of messaging like registration and message rate limits. BTW - if your current API provider is not doing this for you, they should be! Unfortunately, software providers have been burned by so many SMS API providers they are searching for any alternative. That’s where Telgorithm can help. As a software provider why take on this extra burden that is not your core expertise? It's time consuming and expensive. A better solution is to find that API provider that knows what they are doing vs. making more work for yourself/wasting your resources. 🙏 Thoughts?
