  • We proudly announce that Temple Health has been recognized as the Gift of Life Donor Program “Top-Performing Health System” in the 2024 Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) Donate Life PA Hospital Challenge! This marks our third consecutive year earning this prestigious title, and we're honored to continue leading the way in promoting organ, eye, and tissue donation. Temple University Hospital—Main Campus and Temple University Hospital—Jeanes Campus each achieved 'Titanium' status—the highest level of recognition—once again. Temple University Hospital—Main Campus also secured the title of “Top-Performing Hospital,” taking first place! “Honors like these reinforce Temple Health’s reputation as a premier transplant center, with our skilled transplant teams performing hundreds of life-saving transplants each year – including kidney, liver, lung, heart, combined heart/lung, and pancreas – in addition to tissue transplants that have healed wounds, provided sight, and helped patients return to normal and active lives,” said Abhinav Rastogi, MBA, MIS, Executive Vice President of Temple University Health System and President & CEO of Temple University Hospital. “These recognitions speak to Temple’s reputation as a place where patients and families receive great care, as well as a place of great caring, which our employees and staff demonstrate every day.” Thank you to our dedicated Temple Health team! https://lnkd.in/em_x9w_m

  • At Temple Health, we are committed to creating a safer community. Led by Nurse Natalie Chamberlain, 8 East nurses at Temple University Hospital held their first Gun Violence Prevention Rally. They distributed more than 150 gun locks and provided crucial education about gun safety to our community. Their proactive approach, in partnership with Trauma Outreach Manager Scott Charles, reflects their deep commitment to saving lives - not just responding, but taking action to prevent. Their passion for prevention is inspiring, and this is just the beginning of their advocacy. The rally’s success has inspired Natalie and her coworkers to incorporate gun violence prevention into their day-to-day care. “I think it’s important that we continue having these discussions with our patients and their families,” she says. “We want to make sure that they know all about gun safety measures.” This effort echoes Temple Health’s participation in the “It Doesn't Kill to Ask” campaign, a regional collaborative education initiative to help reduce injuries and deaths caused by firearms by encouraging gun safety conversations among parents and families. Learn more: Thank you to Natalie and the entire team for going above and beyond to make a meaningful impact. https://lnkd.in/eD9xTrTj

  • Dr. Kiley Nygren a second-year Emergency Medicine Resident at Temple University Hospital, witnessed a severe multi-vehicle accident, her years as an EMT and her current role as an ER doctor came into full effect. Dr. Nygren’s quick response and leadership at the scene were pivotal in managing a mass casualty event. While her actions have made her a hero among her colleagues, Dr. Nygren remains humble. “You have your training, and the best thing you can do is just use what you know, and try to put it into action at the end of the day,” she says. “The reason I went into medicine in the first place was to help people: to be there on the worst day of their lives, and to be the smiling face who makes that horrible day just a tiny bit better. And it feels like, in this situation, I was able to do what I set out to do in medicine.” We’re proud to have Dr. Nygren as part of the Temple Health team. • We’re proud to announce that Temple University Hospital has once again achieved the prestigious Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)! Temple Health received this wonderful news during a phone call this morning with the ANCC.The ANCC’s Magnet designation is nationally recognized as the “gold standard” of nursing excellence, and fewer than 10 percent of hospitals nationwide have a prestigious Magnet-designated. To earn this distinction, organizations must outperform national benchmarks on nurse-sensitive clinical quality indicators, patient experience, and registered nurse satisfaction. They must demonstrate adherence to standards for improving the quality of patient care, interprofessional collaboration, leadership of the chief nurse executive in supporting professional practice, and continued proficiency of nursing personnel. “Magnet recognition is not merely an award,” said Dr. Chaudron Carter Short, PhD, EdD, RN, NEA-BC Chief Nurse Executive and Executive Vice President at Temple Health. “It reflects a sustained commitment to outstanding clinical care with accomplished nurses at its core.” Thank you to our incredible Temple Health nurses for your commitment to outstanding patient care. #ItTakesTemple
