Today marks 6 months since Hurricane Helene devasted East Tennessee. We’re proud to see the progress made in the recovery, even though we know vital connections remain under repair. There’s been $510 million in Helene damage to state roads and bridges in Tennessee. We are requesting 100% reimbursement of that $510 million from USDOT to ensure we do not have to amend our critical state work program. We have already received $102 million from the USDOT; we are requesting an additional $408 million for roadway/bridge reconstruction. You can find the latest in the recovery efforts here: https://lnkd.in/grVzJNsJ

TDOT was honored to have Region 3 Director Jay Norris participate in the Leadership Middle Tennessee panel on transportation to discuss department priorities and the delicate balance of managing rapid growth while maintaining efficient, safe, and reliable infrastructure. Moderated by NewsChannel 5 Anchor Carrie Sharp and held at the Capitol Theatre in Lebanon, this was Norris's second straight year on the panel, which coincided with the ‘Transportation’ Session of the eleven-month Leadership Middle Tennessee Program.

We believe the proposed budget increase currently before the Tennessee General Assembly has incredible potential to accelerate our projects, enhance connectivity, and improve the quality of life for all Tennesseans.
