Today is California Native American Day! Originally recognized as “California Indian Day” in 1968 by Governor Ronald Reagan, this day celebrates the rich culture and heritage of California’s Native American tribes. In Sacramento, tribes gather at the state capitol for the Tribal Nations Flag Ceremony, where each tribe proudly displays its flag, followed by a keynote address and cultural sharing from numerous tribes throughout the day. At Tepa, we encourage you to learn about our Tribe, the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, and other Native American tribes. On September 19th, the Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation hosted its seventh annual "Wish Upon a Par" charity golf tournament at the Rolling Hills Casino in Corning, CA. In partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Rolling Hills Casino, the event welcomed around 150 golfers for a day of friendly competition and community support. Over the past seven years, generous sponsors have contributed an incredible $300,000, helping to make life-changing wishes come true for children through Make-A-Wish. In addition, this year’s tournament featured a heartwarming moment as a wish was granted on-site to Angelee, a young girl from Corning, CA. With this wish, Angelee and her family are set to embark on a magical trip to Disney World! #PaskentaNomlakiFoundation
