On May 2nd, Idaho's 23rd winter of the year blew rain, snow, and dirt at the Groundbreaking ceremony of the new Eastern Idaho Regional Solid Waste District (EIRSWD). Commissioner Riegel represented Teton County, expressing appreciation for local partners like RAD and #tetonvalleycommunityrecycling, as well as a determination to promote diversion within the District. Commissioner Heneage, Solid Waste Supervisor Dan O'Donnell, and Public Works Director Darryl Johnson accompanied Commissioner Riegel at this historic occasion. This event was well attended, including commissioners from the other District Countys (Madison, Fremont, Clark), USDA Sr. Advisor Cindy Axne, and Idaho Controller Brandon Woolf.

This year, instead of hiring data collectors, Teton County will be partnering with the volunteer group, Teton Valley Master Naturalists, to observe Teton River utilization trends. Here, GIS Manager and Community Projects Coordinater Rob Marin is giving the volunteer group program background information and training for this summer's data collection. https://lnkd.in/g9Efd4YU

Great to see so many nonprofits and interest groups, including Teton County's 4H, interested in preserving the Earth this Saturday at the Teton County Fairgrounds for the annual Earth Day Celebration! Commissioner Riegel stopped by and met with every booth and heard about the different initiatives and projects going on around the County!

The Open House, presenting the Teton County Economic Plan update, April 17th at the Geo Center, was a success! Commissioner Bob Heneage, representing Teton County on the board of Teton Regional Economic Coalition (TREC), answered questions about process & intent alongside other TREC board members. Thank you, TREC for putting on the open house, coordinating stakeholders and taking on the plan update! Thank you to everyone that came out to ask questions and stay engaged.

Meet Teton County, Idaho's newest AmeriCorps Instructor! "Hello! My name is Will Weygint, and I am excited to be serving as the AmeriCorps 4-H Youth Instructor here in Teton County. I am new to the Teton Valley (I grew up in Mountain Home, ID), and am excited to help with the many programs that University of Idaho Extension & 4-H in Teton County hosts this year. I have a master’s degree in environmental education and have an extensive background working with youth in both formal and informal environments. I completed my master’s degree at the University of Idaho’s McCall Outdoor Science School, where I coordinated complex ecological research projects while simultaneously designing and implementing STEAM curriculum with students from local school districts. I love teaching and am passionate about providing opportunities for youth to learn and grow. I am very excited to learn more about 4-H and help with the many programs that Teton County 4-H offers! I will be leading the new Conservation and Ecology Club this year, and I will also be teaching 4-H STEM challenges at ABC (Above and Beyond the Classroom) after school program, STEAM Clubs (Cloverbuds, Homeschool and Afterschool) and shooting sports clubs in the spring. I am looking forward to a great 4-H year!" #tetoncountyid #TetonValleyID #Idaho4H #universityofidahoextension See less
