Before October slips away, I want to take a minute to celebrate two of our truly remarkable Party Coordinators at The Birthday Party Project - who also happen to be Breast Cancer Survivors. This disease hits extremely close to home for my family as well, so it means even more to watch Loni Norwood & Jacqueline Lukasik (LaFache) stand courageous in their battles. They advocate for awareness, early detection and normalizing these conversations. We love you, we celebrate you, you mean the world to us. #breastcancerawareness #thinkpink🩷

Finished out Hilton’s Travel With a Purpose week with a bang! I was able to join some more of the team in the Dallas office as we partnered with The Birthday Party Project to help pack birthday bags for children experiencing homelessness and Keep America Beautiful® to help beautify one of Dallas’ oldest neighborhoods. Extremely proud to be a part of a company that believes in giving back. Continuing to spread the light & warmth. #HiltonTWPW #HiltonForTheStay #Hilton

It's Travel with Purpose week at Hilton, and we’re proud to support the incredible work of The Birthday Party Project! Their mission to ensure every child in partner homeless shelters has a memorable birthday is truly inspiring. Our group of Hilton-ites had a blast putting together 600 party favor bags, so no birthdays fall through the cracks. #TravelWithPurpose #CommunityImpact #HiltonVolunteers"

Today, I’m thinking about a 3-year-old girl that I met at a Birthday Party…HER Birthday Party…at the amazing Genesis Women's Shelter & Support a couple of months ago. Despite the trauma she’s already lived through in her short life - she squealed with joy when she opened the tiniest pair of pink plastic high heels. Exactly what she wished for & wrapped up in pink princess wrapping paper. I’m sporting my 💜purple💜 today for that little girl, for her siblings and her mom. I count it as a privilege to partner with incredible DV agencies across the country to SEE, KNOW & CELEBRATE kids for their birthdays through The Birthday Party Project. #joychangeslives

Today is World Homeless Day and about one year of helping to lead our Safe Haven Tarrant County location The Birthday Party Project The Birthday Party Project hosts joyful birthday celebrations for children experiencing homelessness from coast to coast. “An estimated 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness each year in the U.S., with 700,000 minors (under 18) being unaccompanied.” TBPP always says, “birthdays matter, because kids matter.” Mother Teresa has a wonderful quote where she talks about poverty and its depth beyond hunger and homelessness. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. Children experiencing homelessness, especially in their developmental years, fall victim to this. Our unhoused neighbors deserve better. Being a coordinator for a domestic violence shelter in Fort Worth, I see firsthand the joy a child feels when they are celebrated and known. Today, I hope this shines a light on something I love outside of work! It makes me a better neighbor in my city, and is an inspiring organization to be involved with. *no pictures of shelter residents for privacy & safety
