The USAID Policy and Regulatory Reform for Resilience (PROSE), implemented by Cadmus, recently supported several workshops in the #Caribbean. Members of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) completed a Vulnerability Assessment Workshop and a Policy Design Workshop focused on building private sector resilience. Additionally, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in St. Kitts and the Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) are working with USAID PROSE to develop an updated Country Work Programme (CWP) for St. Kitts and Nevis. A stakeholder consultation was held on each island to guide updates to the CWP. https://hubs.la/Q02Mr7YW0

In partnership with Riverside Technology, inc., Cadmus is leading engagement activities on behalf of NOAA Satellite and Information Service NCEI's Industry Proving Grounds (IPG). We are thrilled to share the launch of this new website, which will serve as a hub for climate resilience data, products, and services to inform critical decision-making and rapid response.

Exciting Announcement from NESDIS/NCEI’s Industry Proving Grounds (IPG)! In late July, IPG proudly unveiled a groundbreaking website to revolutionize climate resilience across vital U.S. industries. This initiative - supported by the Inflation Reduction Act and in partnership with industry leaders- empowers industry sectors of architecture, engineering, re/insurance, and retail with actionable climate data. By enhancing decision-making capabilities, IPG will bolster economic stability and elevate community protection nationwide - with a focus on underserved areas. This innovative website delivers essential resources customized to provide stakeholders with precise climate information and forecasting insights. These tools enable strategic planning and rapid responses during environmental challenges, fostering climate resilience in our communities and economy. Through strategic partnerships with esteemed organizations like the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), and the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), IPG will analyze climate-smart decisions and risk assessments. This underscores NOAA's commitment to infrastructure, disaster recovery, and environmental sustainability. The IPG initiative sets a new standard for climate resilience and industry collaboration, building a more resilient future together. https://lnkd.in/ggxshMxQ

We are pleased to share this video from our Strengthening Energy Sector Resilience in Jamaica project (SESR-Jamaica), which highlights the workforce development, technical assistance, and funding mobilization that has increased solar and storage adoption by Jamaican businesses and underscores the robust business case for solar photovoltaics in Jamaica. Together with USAID, the Cadmus-led Jamaica Energy Resilience Alliance worked with Jamaican businesses to acquire solar PV and PV+ storage systems to power 36 business facilities, many of them small and medium-sized businesses. This investment has a tangible impact resulting in lower-priced, reliable, renewable power that increases business competitiveness and continuity of operations while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. https://hubs.la/Q02KBy8D0

Cadmus team member Lex Huth co-authored a recent paper "Supporting Individuals with Photophobia in VR: A Case Study of VR Shades, an Accessible VR Application Feature Prototype" which is published in the IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces Abstracts and Workshops (VRW). To address the accessibility challenges VR presents to people with visual disabilities, the authors developed VR Shades, a prototype VR application feature allowing users to modify visual light transmission (VLT) in VR applications. #accessibility #VirtualReality https://hubs.la/Q02K2-2C0
