We're grateful to the team members from our Home Office and The Charleston Place who came together this week to lend a hand to our partners at Meeting Street Schools by packing meals in response to Hurricane Helene. 💚
We stand together during tough times. 💪 More than 1,400 meals were delivered Tuesday to Meeting Street Academy - Spartanburg families who have been dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. We're grateful to the employees from The Charleston Place, Beemok Hospitality Collection (BHC) and Meeting Street Schools who came together to package the meals and show their support to those affected by the storm.

Last night, we were privileged to be a part of the 9th Annual Dining for a Cause benefit dinner presented by Feed the Need, where an incredible $1.1 million was raised! Funds will go toward meal services and job training programs for the city's homeless and disadvantaged, ensuring a continued impact in the year ahead. We’re proud to have Sorelle and Charleston Grill among this amazing group of talented Charleston chefs and restaurateurs supporting this worthy cause. This event is one of our favorites each year, as it brings the community together to help alleviate the economic burdens faced by local soup kitchens and shelters. A heartfelt thank you to Feed the Need, Neighbors Together, Inc, Neighborhood House, One80 Place, and special recognition to our generous friends Steve Palmer, Jeremiah Bacon and Mickey Bakst for their leadership and dedication.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Nelson Bumpers, who was an integral part of The Charleston Place family for nearly 30 years. Known affectionately as "Shine" or "The Professor," Nelson brought more than just polished shoes to our guests—he brought wisdom, kindness, and genuine connection. His shoe shine stand, a beloved fixture in our hotel, became a place where guests and colleagues could pause, reflect, and enjoy his company. Nelson’s meticulous work and timeless advice left a lasting impact on everyone he met. This past weekend, both Sorelle and Charleston Grill proudly represented BHC at the first-ever Food and Wine Classic Charleston's Grand Tasting, serving signature dishes like Carolina Shrimp with Nước Chấm and Bruschetta Al Caviale. Simultaneously, the Sorelle team hosted two intimate Dine Arounds, celebrating the fresh, vibrant flavors of Amalfi. In honor of #WorldGratitudeDay, our teams across the BHC collection, Beemok Capital, Modern Minds, and the full family of businesses came together to give back to the community that gives so much to us. On Friday morning, we gathered at Colonial Lake Park with our friends at the Charleston Parks Conservancy, clearing weeds and prepping garden beds for fresh growth. It’s our second year celebrating this important holiday through hands-on service, and each time reminds us of the significance of caring for our shared spaces—and each other. A big thank you to the Parks Conservancy, and to Courtney (Long) Capata for organizing such a meaningful and fun day. We wrapped up with a delicious al fresco lunch from Sorelle, sharing food and gratitude ahead of the weekend. Here’s to community, connection, and the power of giving back!
