Supporting our patients beyond The Christ Hospital walls! Heather Britt, a dedicated dance instructor and founder of Dancefix by HBDC, believes in the power of community and strives to bring people together. After facing a challenging breast cancer diagnosis with a difficult prognosis, she sought a second opinion from the cancer experts at The Christ Hospital Health Network. Thanks to their care, Heather found a renewed sense of hope through another kind of community. Last weekend, two key members of her care team—Dr. Jennifer Manders, surgical oncologist, and Dr. Natalie Geier, radiation oncologist—were there to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of DanceFix’s new studio in Walnut Hills, where The Christ Hospital was proud to be a grand opening sponsor. Congratulations to Heather and the entire DanceFix community on this new beginning!

Meet Dayton tattoo artist Justin Barbarino – a passionate runner, devoted family man, and survivor. In 2023, Justin's life took a sudden turn with a diagnosis of congestive heart failure, leading him to rely on a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) to keep him going every day. Thanks to the expert care of Dr. Greg Egnaczyk and the incredible heart team, Justin is able to keep doing what he loves!

Last month, Hurricane Helene caused widespread devastation, displacing thousands of families. Amid the destruction, communities across the nation stepped up to lend a helping hand—including Northern Kentuckian and The Christ Hospital’s own ER doctor, Dr. Ginger Bell, and her family. "It's small things that made a big difference, and to some people, realizing they were getting hot food, when they realize they may hot have anything.... We walked away with just a renewed sense of humanity." says Dr. Ginger Bell. Ginger, her husband—a retired Cincinnati police sergeant—and their three children packed up and drove to North Carolina to assist however they could. With the support of friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors, the Bells raised $12,000, collected thousands of dollars’ worth of non-perishable food items, and even arranged for a helicopter to deliver fresh produce to those in need. We couldn’t be prouder of this incredible act of community outreach! 💙 Read the full story to hear more about Ginger and her family's impact: https://lnkd.in/gpvsvBZD

Paul Favorito, MD, orthopedic surgeon, and his 2022 fellow, Dennis DeBernardis, DO, presented their shoulder arthroplasty research last week at the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Annual Meeting in San Antonio. Their presentation focused on a specialized glenoid prosthesis for shoulder replacements in patients with glenoid bone loss. This important research has also been accepted for publication in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery! Conducted alongside David Donnelly, PA, and Dr. Aditya Bahel, radiologist, this study represents the longest and most comprehensive follow-up on this prosthesis to date. We are incredibly proud of Dr. Favorito's mentorship and of these dedicated professionals for showcasing their significant contributions to orthopedic surgery research on a national stage.

Delaying care can keep you from enjoying the activities you love—whether it's playing pickleball or simply standing comfortably. For hip replacement patient Jennifer Duffey, she's beyond grateful to orthopedic surgeon Dr. Todd Kelley for helping her get back to what she loves!
