This morning, I woke to find a thick, white wonderland outside my window. As I sipped my coffee and walked my dog in the peaceful stillness, I couldn’t help but think how fitting it is that the world looks as different as it feels today. In just one turn of the sun, so much feels like it has changed. In moments like these, when concerns for our safety and well-being arise, I feel an even deeper gratitude for being part of a diverse and cherished community—one where everyone, regardless of background, identity, lived experience, politics, or ability, is welcome and valued. Over the past twenty-four years, with the support of so many of you, The Delores Project has created spaces of belonging, giving some of Denver's most marginalized individuals the opportunity to secure permanent housing, heal, and thrive. Together, we build belonging on good days and bad, on snowy mornings and sunny afternoons. Three hundred and sixty-five days a year, twenty-four hours a day, we are here, helping people find their way to safety and a place to call home. In my nearly ten years with Delores, I’ve seen our community weather every kind of storm, and each time, we’ve emerged stronger because we’ve chosen to stand with one another. May this moment in history be no different. Let us never forget the healing power of community and the profound ripple effect that small acts of love can have, reaching far beyond what we can see. Sending so much love and gratitude today to everyone who has and will continue to love us and those we serve through the storms. When we remember that we belong to each other, in both good times and bad, we create the world we all want to live in. Peace and Love, Emily Wheeland Chief Executive Officer

About us
The Delores Project provides a dignified, inclusive 24/7 shelter and personalized services for unaccompanied women and transgender individuals experiencing homelessness, and advocates for housing solutions. The Delores Project believes that those experiencing homelessness deserve a safe place to lay their heads at night. By providing shelter in a welcoming environment and without judgment, our guests begin to believe that they have value and are worthy of our care and regard. The Delores Project is named for Delores Big Boy, a Lakota woman who frequently lived on the streets of Denver. Her situation was complicated by health, developmental and substance abuse issues, as well as physical and sexual violence.

🗳️ Election Day is Here! Your Vote Matters! 🗳️ Today is the day we come together to make our voices heard! The Delores Project believes in the power of community action to create a more inclusive, supportive community for all. One way we can achieve this? Voting YES on Ballot Measure 2R! The Delores Project sees Ballot Measure 2R, supporting an Affordable Denver for all, as one important solution to the shortage of approximately 44,000 housing units Denver is estimated to experience in the next decade. What’s 2R? Measure 2R will generate up to $100 million annually to preserve and expand affordable housing options for thousands of Denverites, including low and middle-income earners and families. If passed, 2R would cost most Denverites just $2 a week. This small expense, one-third of which would be generated by visitors to our city, would reap huge benefits for the community of people we serve. At the Delores Project we are working towards a Denver where all people have the community of support and housing stability they need to thrive and 2R is one important step in actualizing this vision and creating a more equitable, accessible, and healthy city for all of our friends and neighbors. 💙 When We Vote, We Make a Difference 💙 Whether you’ve voted by mail, ballot drop, or at the polls, every single vote matters. Let’s stand together for a brighter, more equitable Denver. Don’t forget to get your vote in by 7 p.m. today! Let’s show up, Denver – for housing, for compassion, for each other! Vote YES on 2R. #ElectionDay #VoteYESon2R #DenverVotes #Building Belonging #HousingForAll #VoteForChange
