Catalyzing community to advance and accelerate economic opportunities for Colorado women and their families.

About us

Through research, public policy advocacy, grantmaking, and the cultivation of philanthropy, The Women's Foundation of Colorado catalyzes community to advance and accelerate economic opportunities for Colorado women and their families. Our Core Values PROMISE: We believe in infinite possibilities. We know all women and girls have the innate potential and power to succeed. LEADERSHIP: We are willing to take risks in pursuit of our vision. We will lead in harnessing passion to include and amplify the voices of diverse women and girls. We believe that leadership by women and girls in all sectors makes a positive difference in communities and society. COMMUNITY: We understand that advancing women’s economic self-sufficiency is complex, requiring the insights, investments, and commitment of many. We believe that we can achieve more in partnership with others. LEARNING: We seek to learn from our grantees, strategic partners, and others to inform our research and to identify needs. We believe mutual and continuous learning will not only advance progress toward our vision but also stimulate innovative solutions to issues impacting women and girls. EQUITY AND INCLUSION: We strive to understand the intersection of identities and to address structural systems of inequity in the pursuit of equity. We believe that deliberately including diverse perspectives in our work and in our decision-making will lead to better results. STEWARDSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY: We act with integrity, look back and look forward on important issues, practice a bias for action, focus on systemic change, and measure our results. We hold ourselves accountable to our mission, our donors, our stakeholders, and the communities we serve.

Updates

  • Coloradans are increasingly concerned about cost of living in our state. Although our state’s property taxes are among the lowest in the country, recent increases have been challenging for hardworking Colorado families. As policymakers convene for a special legislative session to consider changes to state and local revenue and the impacts for our communities and our future, supports for women and families to thrive should be prioritized and protected. We oppose the harmful property tax ballot measures - Initiative 50, Voter Approval to Retain Additional Property Tax Revenue and Initiative 108, Valuation for Assessments - that would severely impact funding for key programs that support women and their families. We hope for an agreement that will emphasize the value women and families bring to our state and remove those measures from the November ballot. The Women’s Foundation of Colorado is the only statewide community-funded foundation protecting the progress and advancing gender, racial, and economic equity for all Colorado women. When women thrive, our whole state is better off because women are leaders in their lives, families, and communities and play a vital role in our state economy. Guided by our partners serving communities and the realities that women and their families face throughout the state, WFCO advocates for policies that promote economic opportunities. We support fiscal reforms to ensure adequate resources are invested in our communities and prioritize women and families.

  • We're thrilled to share the highlights from our two-day grantee convening, which took place this week at The Colorado Health Foundation! It was an incredible opportunity to bring together our WINcome and Women & Girls of Color Fund grantees for two days of connection, support, and learning. Day 1 kicked off with powerful programming facilitated by Transformative Leadership for Change, focused on fostering connection and support for women and gender-expansive leaders of color. The day concluded with a wonderful networking reception where grantees connected with Colorado funders, WFCO Trustees, and supporters from our broader community. Day 2 was dedicated to media engagement and public policy, providing our grantees with valuable insights and practical skills. We were honored to have a media panel featuring Anna Alejo from CBS News Colorado, Anusha Roy from KUSA-TV, 9NEWS, and Elaine Tassey from Colorado Public Radio. A special thank you to Jenny Davies from Progressive Promotions Inc for leading the media pitch workshop. A huge shoutout to Camisha Vigil Lashbrook, our Director of Donor Relations & Strategic Grantmaking, for expertly planning and facilitating this convening. And a heartfelt thank you to all our grantees who joined us for one or both days—your participation and energy made this event truly special. We're excited to continue building on the connections and support fostered during these two days!
