“That is just what I am good at, taking care of people and knowing what people need before they need it.” - Michelle M., Veteran Caregiver Eight months after marrying her husband, Michelle M. received word that he was injured in an artillery training accident. The incident left him a double amputee, legally blind, and suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Since then, Michelle has taken on the role of Caregiver in addition to wife and bonus-mom. Through The Independence Fund’s Caregiver and Family Program, she’s learned how to find time for herself and make connections with other Caregivers. Help The Independence Fund continue hosting vital Caregiver retreats and make a meaningful impact on the lives of Caregivers by donating today at https://lnkd.in/ejX4sJRN. #TIFCares #TheIndependenceFund #Caregiver #Veteran #Veterans #VeteranCaregiver #BeAHeroForAHero

Operation Resilience provides a unique and meaningful opportunity for Veterans to reunite with the people who stood by their side in the formation in which they deployed. These retreats provide more than just a chance to reconnect; they create a space where Veterans can heal, restore bonds, and strengthen the brotherhood forged through shared experiences. OpRes is dedicated to combatting Veteran suicide by offering ongoing support, resources, and a network of peers who understand the challenges Veterans face. This November, The Independence Fund will host the next OpRes retreat, continuing our mission to make a difference in the lives of Veterans. Operation Resilience retreats have reunited over 650 Veterans. By supporting The Independence Fund, you can help more units participate in Operation Resilience, ensuring that no Veteran has to face their struggles alone. “Every day is a different thing and a different story. Sometimes, I struggle.” - US Army Veteran and Caregiver, Yamilet M. Yamilet M. is an Army Veteran and Caregiver to her husband, Shannon, a fellow Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Complications from emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor left Shannon with a neurocognitive disorder and reliant on a wheelchair. Being a Caregiver was not something that Yamilet ever imagined, but her commitment to caring for her husband reflects her love, respect, and honor for his service and exemplifies the strength and resilience of military Caregivers. The Independence Fund’s Caregiver and Family retreats provide essential support to Caregivers like Yamilet, offering opportunities for rest, healing, and self-care. The Caregiver retreats are designed to give these heroes behind the heroes a much-needed break from their daily responsibilities, allowing them to relax and focus on their own well-being. With your generous support, The Independence Fund can continue providing Caregivers with valuable opportunities to relax, recharge, and heal. Donate today at https://lnkd.in/ejX4sJRN and help make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who care for our nation’s heroes! #TIFCares #TheIndependenceFund #Caregiver #Veteran #Veterans #VeteranCaregiver #BeAHeroForAHero

The Independence Fund was founded in 2007 in the halls of Walter Reed Medical Center with a mission to support catastrophically wounded, injured, and ill Veterans with all-terrain trackchairs. Nearly 18 years later, The Independence Fund remains dedicated to this same mission. With your support, The Independence Fund provides all-terrain trackchairs to Veterans nationwide, like John, a single-leg amputee and an Army and Air Force Veteran, empowering them to regain their independence through enhanced mobility. Visit The Independence Fund website to join the mission, whether by making a one-time gift or becoming a monthly donor: https://lnkd.in/ejX4sJRN Every contribution helps our nation’s heroes live more fulfilling lives. #TheIndependenceFund #Veteran #Veterans #Mobility #BeAHeroForAHero
