Our school farm is thriving! The maize crop is doing exceptionally well, and the orange trees are bearing abundant fruit. These bountiful harvests are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our community. We are grateful for this agricultural abundance, which will provide nourishment and income to support our students and their families. #thekilgorisproject #foodsecurity

Sustainability isn't just a buzzword at our schools—it's a daily practice that feeds minds and bodies. Our farms and school gardens are flourishing this season, with community-tended rows. These gardens do more than provide fresh ingredients for our school meals; they're living classrooms where students learn about nutrition, responsibility, and the satisfaction of growing their own food. The 4K club teaches gardening that kids can replicate at home during the holidays. #TheKilgorisProject #Sustainability

At The Kilgoris Project, true transformation begins with partnership. At The Kilgoris Project, we don't just build schools—we build relationships. All our classrooms are not just constructed by contractors; they are raised by the hands of community members who share our vision for education. This is what sustainable development looks like: a community investing in its future.

Bridging Cultures & Building Teams: Lessons from the Maasai Mara In today's digital age, managing global teams presents both unique challenges and extraordinary opportunities. Recently, we witnessed the power of intentional team building during a beautiful gathering of our US and Kenya teams at The Kilgoris Project (TKP), where the majestic Maasai Mara served as our backdrop for connection and collaboration. While virtual collaboration tools have changed how we work across continents, there's an irreplaceable magic in bringing teams together physically. After several intensive days of strategy meetings, our teams took time to experience the Mara together - an investment that pays dividends far beyond the immediate experience. Key takeaways from this experience include; 1. Informal Moments Matter Most The casual conversations during game drives and shared meals often led to our most innovative solutions. When teams relax together, creativity flows naturally. 2. Cultural Understanding Deepens Collaboration Experiencing the Mara together helped our US team members better understand a bit of the Kenyan context. This understanding strengthens our partnership in ways that video calls would strugglre to achieve. 3. Shared Experiences Create Lasting Bonds Whether it was spotting a pride of lions or sharing stories around some food, these shared moments created connections that will enhance our virtual interactions for months to come. At TKP, our work in education requires a deep trust and seamless coordination between our global teams. This day of connection wasn't just about team building - it was about strengthening the foundation that enables us to better serve our students and communities. As we returned to our respective locations, we carried with us not just memories, but stronger relationships, clearer communication channels, and renewed energy for our mission of changing lives through education. The lesson? In our increasingly virtual world, making time for genuine human connection isn't just nice to have - it's essential for building high-performing global teams. What strategies have you found effective for building strong connections across your global teams? We'd love to hear your experiences. #TeamWork #GlobalLeadership #CrossCulturalCollaboration #ChangingLives #TheKilgorisProject Greg J Baird Ashley Brigham Ashley Gasperi Buya Mukonzo

It's holiday time! Here is a photo recap of our recent grade 6 graduation and our closing day. We celebrated with the kids who will be graduating to Grade 7 next year and formally closed the school for the long holidays. The kids were so excited for the break because they get to spend more time with their families. Through YOUR help, we have been able to keep these kids in school for the year and we cannot wait to do it all again in 2025!

Teeing Off for a Cause: A Golf Tournament to Remember Earlier in the month, I had the incredible honour of co-hosting a golf dinner tournament with the amazing Daisy Vuyanzi Ungaya, MPhil, Cantab to support The Kilgoris Project. This wasn't just any golf event; it was a powerful gathering of like-minded individuals united for a noble cause. Together, we raised over 550,000 Kenyan Shillings in just one night! This will directly impact the lives of 2,100 children in Kilgoris, providing them with essential resources like education, healthcare, and nutrition. The tournament was filled with fun, laughter, and friendly competition. But it was more than just a game; it was a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when we come together for a good cause. A special thanks to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this incredible event. Your generosity is truly inspiring! Food makes the world go round. Today, on World Food Day, we're highlighting the community that ensures we get nutritious food at TKP. In 2023, TKP served more than 714,840 nutritious meals. We are thankful for the farmers who grow the food and our wonderful kitchen team who turn produce into yummy food. Their efforts fuel the energy to keep learning. #thekilgorisproject #WorldFoodDay
