Celebrating the 77th anniversary of 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁! The Bell X-1 reached a speed of Mach 1.06, piloted by Captain Charles Yeager, becoming the first person to break the sound barrier.

THEY CAUGHT IT! This is the first launch of SpaceX’s Starship where they successfully catch the first stage back at the landing site on the launch towers' arms (aka the chopsticks). The second stage continues into a slightly sub-orbital trajectory, where it goes for a soft targeted landing in the Indian Ocean roughly an hour later; this time with significantly less melting thanks to the upgraded heat shield. Josh Standerfer says this is huge. “With SpaceX success in completing the full profile, it marks a major step forward for the demonstration of rapid reusability in heavy-class rockets.“ Ad astra.
