Helping Build an Extraordinary Community
About us
The Foundation was formed in 1995 by a group of forward-thinking community leaders who wanted to create a public, not-for-profit organization that would advance the aspirations of the community in perpetuity. A registered 501(c)(3) organization, the Foundation is a component fund of the Columbus Foundation. The Foundation Board of Trustees adopted four strategic areas of impact: - Life-long Learning - Arts & Culture - Health & Wellness - Sustainable Environment & Historic Preservation In addition to advancing community projects and initiatives, each year the Foundation awards grants to not-for-profit community organizations. The Foundation believes that one way to build a strong sense of community is to bring people together for enriching “shared experiences.” We envision New Albany as a center for intellectually, culturally, healthful and environmentally stimulating programming year round. We accomplish this through collaborations that generate resources for transformational investments in lifelong learning, health and wellness, arts and culture and the environment. Our Mission: The Foundation’s mission is to help build an extraordinary community. We accomplish this through collaborations that generate resources for transformational investments in lifelong learning, health and wellness, arts and culture and the environment. Our Purpose: - To steward a philanthropic spirit in the community; - To pursue strategic grant-making that benefits the community’s citizens, employees and students, and that is consistent with the intent of our donors; To provide flexible and cost-effective ways for civic-minded individuals, families and companies to contribute to their community – now and in perpetuity; - To be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us; - To do all of this in a manner that brings people together and strengthens community bonds.

Time in the garden is good for the soul! We caught up this week with the volunteers behind New Albany's The Garden for All, which was founded in 2020 and has continued to grow in size and impact each year. Flowers and produce grown in the garden and tended by volunteers is then donated to local food pantries and community organizations. The Foundation was pleased to be able to provide a grant to The Garden for All in support of its mission and applauds the volunteers who are working hard to extend its impact. #NewAlbanyOhio #communitygrants #thegardenforall #buildingcommunity

Performing in New Albany on June 25th with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra! Joshua Henry is a GRAMMY-Award winning performer and recording artist best known for his roles Tony-Nominated leading roles in Carousel, The Scottsboro Boys and Violet. As well as for his show-stopping performance as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. VARIETY had this to say about him: Henry shows off the exceptionally beautiful voice of a genuine actor-singer, a voice that while warm and mellow, can also soar with joy and tremble with despair.” Don’t miss out on the first Foundation-presented show of the 2024 season at the Hinson Amphitheater. Seats and tables are available NOW at newalbanyfoundation.org #livemusic #broadway #summermusic #community #joshuahenry #columbussymphonyorchestra

Last week, the Foundation convened representatives of area companies as well as city, school and township leaders at Axium's headquarters in the New Albany International Business Park to discuss environmental sustainability shared goals and to share best practices, especially related to recycling. As one of the Foundation’s strategic areas of focus, environmental sustainability efforts will include increasing impact by raising awareness and working collaboratively on sustainability measures. We’re encouraged by the practices that are already in use by New Albany’s business community and the openness with which they approached the topic of innovation, collaboration and enhancement of existing efforts. Thanks to all who participated, especially Axium for hosting and leading the discussion along with Rumpke. PC: James DeCamp Photography

Thank you to Clarence Mingo of T. Marzetti Company for opening our program last night and supporting the New Albany Lecture Series. Clarence is also a veteran of the Gulf War so it was particularly meaningful to have him introduce General Wesley Clark, Malcolm Nance and Martha Raddatz. Martha's comments directed to the audience at the end of the program reinforce the goals of the Lecture Series: "What you are doing is so important in having these conversations. Thank you for caring, for opening your minds and coming together to talk about these issues that matter so much." #LifelongLearning #communitybuilding #newalbanyohio PC: James D. DeCamp
